Ok, elite is a stretch.
But his D was intense and super effective.
Just calling what I saw - & I am defs not a Salmon fan.
How so? I don't see it at all. There's plenty of harder hitters in the squad, plenty of better wrestlers, plenty better at absorbing bodies, plenty better at driving in the tackle, etc.

A win for rounds 2 means it will be the first time since 2016 that the bulldogs win their first 2 games of the year.
And means we just need to win 14 more games and we are in the finals again.

First time I had seen young Hayes I saw a future representative in him, although he must continue his great work if he is to achieve that and not let situations like this bring him down.

The starting 13 no arguments there,
I can understand his decision to pick this bench
Hayward............covers lock, hooker, halfback and five-eight.
Curren................is one of our best forward,
Tupouniua........a must on the bench and a close starter,
Salmon...............the defender that executes CC's defensive plan doing the teams dirty work,
Mistakes will be made, but CC deserves our trust !!!
As important as it is, it's not about tackles made/missed or meters gained.
No one is doubting the coach, He's transformed our defence and is developing our players. He's a great coach

BUT

He has a blind spot to salmon, massive favouritism

That's the only thing being criticised

Mann yes however he proved otherwise very quickly so I changed my opinion. That's what you do when new information becomes available.

Tupouniua no. I said he was overrated on here which he was. Always been a high ceiling player with pretty bad lows. Bad hands, poor discipline, terrible defensive reads. Was happy to have him in the squad, just didn't think he was worth the long-term deal. If Ciraldo can get some consistency in his game then yh, he will turn out to be a much better buy than I originally thought.

Fair. Still doesn't change the fact that you spam this joint with relentless complaining and it honestly makes the place less enjoyable a lot of the time.

I agree that CC (or any coach) shouldn't be immune to criticism. I really do. I agree that some of his selections are fkn cooked and that he has a weird obsession with midgets. But at the same time, CC has CLEARLY bought a lot of positives along too, and we are in a fuckload better position than have been for years. The boys are playing hard and playing for each other. We are fit as fuck and we are always in the contest. Yes we lack polish, yes we are a few keys players away from being true contenders, and yes, CC is a stubborn prick who makes some strange decisions, but the future looks bright for the first time in a long time. I'm not saying don't criticise, but for the love of God, mix in a couple of positive comments here, cos it ain't as grim as you wanna make out.

I love that the try was scored against us. How good is a wake up call like that in round 1 when your are winning. No better time to learn

Totally Agree.
Kick in the ass we needed.
Even bigger kick in the ass Mahoney & Sexton need.
And as tough as it is for a fullback when an attacker has that much space, Tracey would be spitting chips that he totally mis-read Liddel.

Almost better than cruising into a 30 point win & feeling we are in great shape for the season.

Don't lose focus

@CrittaMagic69 how are you immune from abuse on here? How do you get away with it?

You've literally called for one of our players to be injured and not one person calls you out on it. Even worse, people join in on the same ridiculous calls.

I mean ... WTF?

Are you sleeping with half of this page? How're you getting away with it?

This. Tell me Hayes can’t do Salmons role. Hayes is destined for higher honours if he stays healthy.

Not concerned in the slightest. So many fans still underestimating their own team smh. Tits are going get slapped hard.

idfc what anyone else says Hayward and Salmon are getting picked purely based on their friendship with Ciraldo. Honestly really pathetic from Ciraldo not having the guts to deservedly drop at least one of them for players who actually deserve and put in the effort to warrant a spot. Really feel for Hayes I seriously can’t believe he’s been dropped
Mate with all due respect this isn't weekend footy where the coaches pick their favourite kids. CC is a professional coach who faces scrutiny with every decision he makes and answers to a board of directors and also Gus

This is not the little league this is the NRL where you live and die by the result of every game , if anyone truly believes a nrl coach picks his friend over a better player purely because they're friends 1st has rocks in their head lol

This stubbornness and favouritism makes me have doubts around whether Ciraldo can be the guy moving forward. Just get the win but fuck me if Hayward and Salmon are the reasons we leak points through the middle again just like we did as soon as they were both in the middle than serious uncomfortable conversations must be had
Not happening.
Ciro is in year 3 of a 5 year deal and extremely popular at the club across the board.
He came one year earlier than planned to get into the trenches and got us to the finals for the first time in 8 years the first year he was able to start shaping his squad. We also won our first game this year. There’ll be no ‘conversations’ in the near term.

Hayward spelling Mahoney and covering the spine is absolutely fine. Hayward part of the forward rotation is absolutely idiotic.

Agree - Mahoney may need a spell for 10-20 minutes in 2nd half.
Hayward can do that well.
Guess he's also in the team as a halves backup.

But ....it'd be nice if Kurt Mann could cover that role.
It just doesn't make sense to have Salmon, Hayward and Mann in the 17.
One of em' needs to drop out & the other two need to play more minutes & more effective minutes.

On current form .... nobody is dropping Mann.

Thats not something you will ever have to worry about.. You will never be qualified enough to coach an nrl side even though you are arrogant enough to believe you could do so.
Yes I whole heartedly believe I will coach an NRL side :tearsofjoy:

So are we carrying Salmon because Kikau is busted? That has to be the only explanation

But CC didn't even use him at hooker. Waste of space.

Salmon not needed also.

8. King
9. Mahoney
10. DSF
11. Kikau
12. Preston
13. Curran

14. Mann
15. Hayes
16. Sitili
17. Hughes

Between Mann and Sitili, most positions are covered if needed.
Isn't Hughes still injured?
