Yes it is ! Assassin has given me the motivation and belief that where there's a will there really is a way.

He fought a massive battle to get to where he is.
I mean try losing significant weight when you can't do any cardio , you cant take slimming drugs , drink caffeine or smoke!! its almost fucking impossible but he did it ! Just a champion .

Like I mentioned I was feeling crap the other day . Like the worst I think I've ever been .. I contemplated writing on the 'R u ok' thread but I was so dispondent that I couldn't even find an ounce of drive to do it. (Its a really long story) but seeing Assassin smash the barriers has really given me back my drive to move forward .
I hope that things are better for you soon and I fully endorse your thoughts regarding Ed. Chin up my lovely and don't forget that a burden shared is a burden halved so never ever feel that your story is not important. You will share it if and when you are comfortable about it.

hahahaha @ASSASSIN first post ... I honestly did not expect you back so fast!!

Were those images you posted of your new heart arriving? Also I noticed Bed #13 ... :D

I have words, but everyone else has stolen them...

To you personally - This is a life changing moment, and proof that good things happen to good people. I am so happy that such a good, genuine bloke, has received a new gift of life.

To your family - Life begins now. Kicking a soccer ball around, enjoying a sunny day, having a family picnic, getting a job and with a hell of a story to tell. It's like someone hit the reset button on the last 5 (or however long its been) years of your life.

To your friends - They now get to spend far more time with you enjoying your company, and experiencing what a great bloke you are.

To the donor family - your gift to Ed is one that has no monetary value. Like a priceless artifact, the gift your son has given Ed, is priceless, and I cannot thank your son enough for deciding to prolong the life of another. Reference The Kennel in their letter, and show just what their donation has given.

To the medical staff - I always grew up thinking that superheroes wore capes. Clearly I was wrong. You have given a family new life, and all his friends so many more good memories to rewrite. THANK YOU .. so very very much.. Like the organ, money cannot put a price on the work you all do... I take my hat off to each and every one of you.

On another note... somewhere up there... Pete is looking down with the biggest smile on his face.

Is that right @Dropbear junior ??
Those words are just fine. No right or wrong just sincere and thoughtful and from the heart. Really, the people here on the kennel would have to be THE best in the world....

I've been busy for the past week and haven't had a chance to catch up on the posts. I read the news about the transplant Assassin and I am literally crying tears of joy! Praying for a quick recovery. I know Dad is cheering for you from up there :grinning:

We all have our problems but Eddie is at the top of the list, fingers crossed the transplant comes good, most of us take life for granted.

Finally caught up on this thread.

Good luck with it all. Hopefully Ed is staying away from the Kennel so as not to strain his new heart.

Doctors can do some amazing shit - but I once heard a surgeon tell me its just like fancy plumbing (pretty important plumbing though!).

And good on the donor, may he rest in peace.

Don't ever feel like you can't share with us wolfie.
I'm glad you got over the hump on your own, but remember, the kennel psychiatrist is always open. We may not be that useful, but at the very least, we'll make you smile.

Visited Eddie yesterday. He's doing well. Has a bad case of the hiccups that won't go away. Literally haven't gone away for the past 2 days. Heart not yet pumping on it's own but that will just take more time. He's very positive and in great spirits.
Good to hear he's on the road to recovery... not suprised to hear of some niggles.. I mean it's major surgery and surely there have to be a few issues having a body open for that long working around organs etc.

As long as they haven't damaged his ability to drop the C Bomb ... nor shave the beard again.. it's all a matter of time.

Cheers for the update :grinning:

Hi guys, another update. Eddie is doing well today. They ran more tests and all is well. They've taken some tubes and one of his cannulas out. His heart is beating on its own which is a very good sign. The body has accepted it and is not rejecting it which is massive.

RE: the donor. It isn't without extreme regret and heartache we received this heart. My mum, sister, wife and sister in law all said a prayer for the person we received this heart from. We can't imagine what their family is going through right now. We all pray for them and are eternally grateful their child chose to be a donor. The heart wasn't just for Eddie, it was for his whole family, most importantly his wife and two young children.

Unfortunately, we aren't allowed any info on the donor but it was hinted it was a young male who was on life support. We do know the heart came from interstate and it received a two police car escort (highway patrol with "urgent medical police escort" written up top) from Sydney airport. Took roughly ten minutes to come from the airport to St Vinnies.

The heart can only stay out of a body for six hours before it loses oxygen. Eddie had it at the five hour mark.

The recipient can write a letter to the family and Eddie had every intention of doing so. We are eternally grateful and hope their family can find some comfort that they've changed an entire families life.
Im in tears reading this, im just so happy for you all, picturing the boys in blue assisting to escort the heart to Eddie is just so special, if i saw them going down the highway with Eddies heart i would have been cheering my heart out, and the thought of a young man giving Eddie the gift of life and you accepting it so humbly with so much respect and love, its overwhelming to read, and your words here are so thoughtful, loving and caring, im so happy for you all, this is just so good to hear, blessings to you and the family and may your love last forever.

Awww shit ... @south of heaven nabbed post #1669

LOL :D

But yeah .... for those who are wondering about Southy's post ... we received word from Assassin this morning, and confirmation earlier from @K E ... that our good friend and much loved Kennel brother @ASSASSIN , is (literally) just about to go into surgery, after a heart became available for him earlier this morning.
I been away a bit but hell this is the greatest news EVER!!!!!!!!
When are we likely to hear something.
Nervous as.................

I too am thrilled for Assassin and just wished that the result could have been as positive for your dad.:upset: Good man your father and yep, DB would be absolutely chuffed. The support he gave Assassin during his bad times was phenomenal and Ed thought the world of him. (still does). Ed is one tough cookie and has come this far so recovery is a way off yet I guess, so like you praying for the very best outcome.

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates. As Blue and White mentioned, Eddie had the hiccups since Sunday. While it doesn't sound bad, imagine being punched in the chest by Mike Tyson every time you hiccup.

That was the bad news, the good news is he's out of ICU and he's in a ward. His heart is beating on its own and his heart rate is 70, which is great. Two days ago the doctors were saying it could be two to three weeks to beat on its own.

Thank you to everyone with your concern and kind words. We all appreciate it and it means a lot to Eddie and to me.

Wow great news, my hiccups naturally with no health issues are quite epic so I can imagine the pain he'd be going through. God bless him and all the drs involved and bless the soul that was lost and was able to give life with their death.
