Egyptians thought heart was the source of human wisdom rather than the brain , as well as emotion, memory, personality and soul.

I wonder if Assassin is going to get some attributes of the donor person.

what if the donor was a homosexual.... watch out boys!
Worse than that, imagine if he discovers he's now a Parra supporter. You could handle waking up with a greater appreciation for dick, but fuck me dead it would be a horrible thing knowing you are an eels fan.

well if it was a parra supporter , then he would know straight away from him dreaming of spoons all the time.

Well at least he would know his new heart won't be under any stress while watching footy.

Hi guys, another update. Eddie is doing well today. They ran more tests and all is well. They've taken some tubes and one of his cannulas out. His heart is beating on its own which is a very good sign. The body has accepted it and is not rejecting it which is massive.

RE: the donor. It isn't without extreme regret and heartache we received this heart. My mum, sister, wife and sister in law all said a prayer for the person we received this heart from. We can't imagine what their family is going through right now. We all pray for them and are eternally grateful their child chose to be a donor. The heart wasn't just for Eddie, it was for his whole family, most importantly his wife and two young children.

Unfortunately, we aren't allowed any info on the donor but it was hinted it was a young male who was on life support. We do know the heart came from interstate and it received a two police car escort (highway patrol with "urgent medical police escort" written up top) from Sydney airport. Took roughly ten minutes to come from the airport to St Vinnies.

The heart can only stay out of a body for six hours before it loses oxygen. Eddie had it at the five hour mark.

The recipient can write a letter to the family and Eddie had every intention of doing so. We are eternally grateful and hope their family can find some comfort that they've changed an entire families life.

If he does become a parra supporter I suspect Dropbear might have had a hand in Assassin's new heart!

What an emotional time it must be for the family and Eddie himself once he gets his head around it.

I can't wait to see his first post back .

thanks for the update KE.

I never mentioned this personal story to anyone here (not even to Assman) but i will let yous all know in good time. The part in bold in your comment has so much enormity and such a positive for Eddie's health moving forward, I cant put it in words even though i am not a doctor. I am sure doctors would have been super excited to see both the new heart and Eddies body are mutually accepting each other.

Great news once again!

I started to write a response to this about 3 or 4 times..I just couldn't think of the right words.. I mean what you wrote just goes to show how deserving you guys are.. The young man who donated his heart..he lives on.. And I'm sure Ed will honour his gift by living life to the full.. :-) Amazing..

This has to be the best paragraph I have ever read on this forum.

I take my hat off to you and your family for finding the humbleness and decency to acknowledge the donor and his family .
I'm very happy Eddie is doing well, and it is my hope that when Eddie does write that letter to the donors family that they respond , because something now beats in Eddie which will connect him to them for the rest of his life.

I haven't read the lounge for a while and just came into the thread to see this wonderful news. It made my day to see this and to see the picture.

Eddie....

I don't know you and i may never know you but i wanted to wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. I have always admired your strength and courage
when discussing your medical situation, your refusal to give in and your desire to fight your illness. All the best to you and your family.

Stay strong brother !!
