Opinion Do we see Hayward in our 17

In my opinion I didn’t see much of him besides he can be a hooker but reed usually plays 80
Mins anyway I say maybe he should go back to nsw cup one thing frustrated me when we were in the opposition 10 and he just looked around
And gave up a tackle which can be very vital in stages!!!
He wouldn’t be in my 17

mann would be my utility and even if Mann was injured I would hope olapu can recover and play that number 13 at some stage later in the year.

If CC wants cover for 6,7 and 9 then Haywood makes the team; he should only be used at 13 when the team is depleted of other options. Should probably start the season at 9 in NSW Cup where he can show what he offers as a starting 9 and an alternative to Turpin as the back up to Reed Mahoney.

kurt Mann can cover all those positions

When Mann is fit and with his ability to cover most positions, it negates the need for Hayward.
Mann right now is the answer but isn’t getting any younger and his body is pretty bashed. Hayward is young and has a good temperament for the game which is hard to coach. I can see the upside with Hayward but perhaps needs to bide his time between NSW cup and NRL for another season.

He definitely had some good moments and provided a spark and good link up at times but he was often left out there too long at or was making no metres on hitups. I think he has decent potential as a hooker. I'd like to see him play there in Reserves ahead of Turpin to start the season so he develops more in that position.

Agree ....

I think moving forward hooker is definitely his position

The few times he's had a cameo there he's looked really sharp and provides good, early service unlike Mahoney at times. He's also a running threat and obviously we know he's tough, fit and can defend well.

I understand the concept of Hayward as 18th man option.
So versatile. And he'd do a great job, no doubt.

Sadly - it''s a bit like what the Blues do to Burto.
I can say that freely - as a Queenslander.
Cos we prefer that Burto is NOT in the NSW team.

But as a footy player ....18th man sucks dogs balls!
I mean wtf - you don't get to play in any grade.

Bring back the ol'- reggies replacement sitting on the bench.
That's what we used to do as young fellas ....
Finish your own age/reggies game ...then go and sit on the bench for A Grade as 18th man (only if you were good enough).
Gave you a taste for the real thing in the years ahead ...but you still got to play with your own team every weekend.

I'm not a fan of quality players (or any player for that matter) ...sitting on the bench as a Justin (just in case there's an injury).
I totally agree about playing at least 1st and 2nd grades on the same day and venue with the reserves bench made of reserve grade players backing up,
The benefits are
1 Better connection not only between grades but also fans alike
2 Allows talent distribution among current teams
3 Provides quality players to be shared among the projected possible 20 teams competition
I don't mind sounding like a broken record on this one
I'll never forget the day the late Mal Creevey played in all three u23, 2nd and 1st grades, scoring and setting up tries in all three...
The NRL are robbing us off these special moments !!!
One day they might wake up and realize these benefits :expressionless:

If both players continue where they left off last season
I believe Mann is a must starter at 13, he reminds me a lot of Folksy tough and uncompromising...
Hayward will fill the 14th jersey just fine !

I don't think Tupouniua pushes Hayes out, both play the same role covering the middle, edge and centres.
OK but I don't see Sitili not in first grade unless he is having a pretty poor pre-season...maybe Amone misses?
I'm not going to stress too much early on in the season, though I will crack the shits if we don't win round 1 against the Queens.

Lock starter I presume? Doesnt play 80 maybe because he can't idk so Curran plays a stint there when he gets subbed?
Will be Interesting how he sets up the starting pack and bench selections, that's for sure.

It is what it is... Hayward just aint no lock and is a liability there with his tackling technique. Might get some games but kid should go back to NSW cup and grow there in my opinion.

No, but he's still young and has potential

I agree I wouldn't have Haywood, I'm saying yuck to Salmon though lol.

We could use Wilson as a sub for Tracey Wilson makes metres a lot more than Hayward I just can’t see him there we have Mann and I doubt reed would want any break he is a 80 min player

downside of not having hayward in the 17 is if we lose a half to injury or hia during the game we'll be screwed
Exactly without queston he is the 2nd best 7 @ 9 currently at our club probably even at 6.
One of the 4 benchies usually only gets a few minutes sometimes none at all. With a 3 Forwards rotating. Hayward would be a good cover for both Sexton and Mahoney.
From what I saw last year our team would'nt lose much with him @ either 7 or 9, he does have both a good passing and short kicking game ,

Hallelujah bother!!
We have seen the light !!
But will they ? lol

Poor old turps. He isnt too bad, but hes always behind someone else to get FG starts.
