Opinion Do we see Hayward in our 17

I think he's a great utility. Would back him to go ok at centre, second row, halves, hooker or lock. But primarily see him as backup for 6, 7 & 9.

It's probably not the best thing for him though. If he was regularly picked in a specific position he'd be able to focus better on that position. But his versatility is a good thing.

Whether he's picked in the 17 comes down to who else is on the bench IMO. But his presence on the bench would mean there's not a big need for a reshuffle in case of injury to a handful of positions.

I can see merit with pretty much everything said both for and against concerning Hayward ..... definitely on the fence.

However, i think defensively we are a better team with him on the field especially on the back of Burtons kicks ..... the line speed when Bailly and Reed are on can be very stifling for the opposition.

Also remember CC is a defensive minded coach.
They can also be massive spot players and we get absolutely rolled like we did against Manly late in the season. I don't think he's necessary at all considering the likes of King, Hughes and Curran are in the squad and are absolutely massive in defence while offering quality carries with the ball.

He's a handy utility and I'd have him off the bench. I have him above Salmon but Salmon is cc's pet. Hayward will probs start in ressies and end up back in fg once we get a few injuries. Hoping he goes to another level of the back of last season

If Ciro goes back to him being more of a hooker/half sub than just a roaming tackler, he could have a role. But I'm sure Mann could cover Mahoney during games if needed, and Sitili covers the backs, so we don't need him if everyone's fit.

That’s the thing he doesn’t have a solid position if anything hooker not at lock that’s like a Preston or Mann role I would think.
But reed is a 80 min player I doubt he would wanna have a rest the bloke loves tackles what was is over 1000…
But maybe have him at 18 or 19th man and I would really consider having Wilson first instead of Montoya I think Wilson have earned his role and showed us he can score and his agility and how fast the kid is. I can still remember when he put parra to the sword still loved every moment of that

See your point ....

I think he'll miss out on the 17. Hughes, Mann, Tupouniua, Curran, Amone and Salmon ahead of him. Mahoney's playing 80 minutes most weeks.

If none of the other options can match Hayward's defensive line speed intensity then CC will keep him in the 17.

Honestly this discussion is almost like saying, "Does critta start?"

Hayward has not once put a foot wrong since his debut. The guy was hand picked by CC and never looked back. I fail to understand why this is even a discussion, it's not like we've gone and signed fucking Harry Grant or something for this to be a discussion. He's our 14. No one else. Guaranteed bench spot minimum.

Honestly bloke could be our 7. Check out the short kicking game he has at 7 in the jnrs. Now he has proven he can handle front line defence at nrl level.
