Talking about tennis reminded me of when I kind of met and totally embarrassed myself in front of Anna Kournikova.
We were pretty young and down in Melbourne for a sporting trip. It was around the Eminem phase and being young dickheads we had bleached our own hair before the trip. We had sat in the sun next to my pool cooking our hair in glad wrap for hours and my head was pretty bloody tender and blistered.
A couple of my mates talked us into going to the Australian Open. I don’t like tennis but reluctantly went after being told Anna K was playing (or looking good trying). I loved her. I sat in the sun on a 40+ for hours with no hat waiting to watch her play and my scalp had started to blister really badly.
That night we decided to check out Crown Casino. After playing roulette for a bit the dealer told us Anna Kournikova was in the high rollers VIP room with her mum. We begged and eventually bribed the dealer to get us in there.
We couldn’t see Anna and played roulette for about 20 minutes until I felt a firm hand on my shoulder. I thought I was about to get thrown out of the high rollers but it was Anna standing there holding chips. She asked me to put her chips on for her because she couldn’t reach.
I did and turned around telling her we had watched her play that day. She was happy and started chatting away until I felt something going on with my head. The blisters on my scalp had started to burst and pus started running down my face.
I looked at Anna as she had a sickened look on her face. I turned around, walked off and just kept walking. I never lived that down. I thought if anywhere fluid would’ve been leaking in my pants
