Arsenal’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Leicester underlined the Gunners need for additional firepower, and plenty of Gooners are praying that boss Arsene Wenger agrees.
Throughout the summer the Frenchman seemed set in his belief that the north Londoners were catered for in the striking department, but with Olivier Giroud sidelined for the next few months with a broken ankle and Yaya Sanogo still a raw talent, it Wenger could probably do with a deadline day dash for another hitman.
But with Loic Remy opting to join Chelsea and Manchester United shocking the football world by landing Radamel Falcao on loan, who can Arsenal bring in?
Wilfried Bony – £24m fee quoted
The Ivorian striker has made it known that he wants to move to a bigger club, and he would surely jump at the chance to join Arsenal. Despite Wenger reportedly travelling to Rome to referee a charity match, the club have assured fans that they are still capable of making signings, and it’s just as well, with bookies naming the Gunners as favourites to land Bony.
However, as reported by the Express, it will take a sizable sum to force Swansea’s hand, with the publication reporting that the Swans have slapped a £24m price tag on their number one striker, although that stance could soften the closer Monday’s 11pm deadline gets.
Carlos Bacca – £12.5m bid ready?
With Falcao off to Old Trafford, it looks as though another Colombian could be on the way to England, but is Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca the man for Arsenal? According to the Metro he could well be, with the publication reporting that the Gunners have been told that £12.5m will be enough to land the 27-year-old. Bacca currently has a release clause of £27.6m, but the Spanish club are thought to be prepared to allow him to leave should Arsenal offer the lower fee.
