The prosecution closing argument is on point tbh.

“What if PC Lovell had been a black male and what if she had called him f***ing stupid and black? Now of course that is not a fair question, because black and white is not a fair swap.

Calling a white man is not as loaded, so you can’t just turn it around, it is not as easy as that. In the heat of the moment this was an insult delivered in reference to race and that is what the law prohibits.

The test for you is the same regardless of the ethnicity in question. She was insulting him and, at the time, she was hostile to him by reference to his race. So the fact you will be able to think of much worse examples of racial aggravation is irrelevant.

Would we consider this a racially aggravated insult if she had said stupid and black? Of course you would, it wouldn’t even be contestable.”

Is a half black person calling a black person "black" being racist? Is a half white person calling a white person "white" being racist?

Her PR team have butchered this.

Instead of taking the high ground, she needed to cop it on the chin, apologise to the officers, make a nominal donation to a charity and this would have been done and dusted and it barely would have made the news.

Poor advice on this one and now it has unravelled and her reputation is hanging by a thread.

Would have been better off taking the Trump option: call it a fraud, fake and a witch hunt.

Almost anything would have been better than her current argument lol

These are the times we live in... a) it was kind of a piss weak "racist" comment. b) UK laws on racism have gone too far. A criminal trial with a jury for making that comment is excessive c) the notion that only white people can be racist is swallowed up by so many people including dumb whites. It's almost accepted without arguement, because those who say otherwise are labelled racist themselves.

You'd just hope there is consistency.

Because someone is going to call some "stupid and (enter non-white skin colour)" just to see what happens.

If they get found guilt, well actually it wouldn't suprise me. Such a hypocritical world.
