I don't want Pearce but I think it's clear to see he's very important to the Knights chances of making the top 8. The biggest issue with Pearce is he's become injury prone and you can't rely on him.

He played well last night!
He did yes, would not be a bad pick up for 22, proven half , delivers in big game moments and knows how to direct a team around the field. !!

It's as simple as...If Flanagan goes he will come.
Flanagan is no competition to Pearce if he came. The only thing moving Flange on would help with is clearing some cap space. Flange is on, what, $400K? Dogs will have to throw at least half in, perhaps more, to be rid of him. Say they chip in $250K, giving us $150K extra space. Pearce is on $650K with Knights now until end of next year. We’ll have to pay more to entice him here. Assuming we use that extra space to do so, who is willing to pay $800K ($650K + $150K) for Pearce when we still have no hooker?

Adding to this, there is zero chance Knights release him before 2023. He’s too important to them as anyone could see last night. And if anyone thinks we’d pay less than $650K from 2023 onwards, he’ll have a ton of clubs after him, so to get him here will take paying overs as we have to with most recruits unfortunately.

Keep buying players and if by some miracle of sorts appears and say the Cheese magically appears on the radar we wont have the cash to offer. Where would that leave us. With Pearce blocking BBO for ½, JMK at 9 and the team going nowhere in particular..... be careful what you wish for.

Am staggered at the prices your quoting, you do know this bloke is north of 32 yeh? and becoming injury prone as fuck..he could be driving a mobility scooter by 2023 LOL
NO way are we paying 650 let alone more...

Absolutely. My point is that someone else will pay that. If we want him here, that’s what we pay. I don’t want him here and am confident he won’t be here.

Flanagan is on average of 300k a season.
Pearce wants back in Sydney and reportedly Newcastle want him out and likely to pay some of his contract.
The way I look at it, even if we have to pay some of Flanagan's it could be offset by what Newcastle pays for Pearce.
I have recently found out that Pearce's contract was reduced from 900k to 600k a season.
A little bit of Gould magic could do wonders :grinning:
