News Harawira-Naera reportedly released

RFM/Lane wasn't a trade they released players at the same time and both players agreed to it.

A trade in my eyes is when the Dogs say they want a certain player and the club tells that player he's going that doesn't happen in the NRL.

All the other clubs know how it works there's no way someone ponies up when they don't have to sooner or later the disgruntled player will get released.

We had no power in the situation if someone wants to go there's not much you can do about it.

Let's just agree to disagree on this one. I think there was a lot more the club could have done and like I said, getting Starling back to help us out at dummy half wouldn’t be asking for a tonne or prevent a deal from going through. If it did, then fuck them.

It pisses me off that Canberra get a rep 2nd rower to help them try and make the GF again and once again we get nothing but cap space which we already have plenty of.

At the end of the day, if that’s his attitude, I don’t care if he leaves.

He cost the club a sponsorship and helped derail the season.

While the club could have done more to support him, none of this would ever happen if both he and Okunbor followed the rules.

If CHN wants to blame the club for his stuff up, good luck to him. I’ll give him a couple of years at the Raiders before he inevitable does something stupid again.

It was always going to play out this way if CHN wasn’t going to stay. It’s shit but it’s the reality of it.

I think Elliot stays now if CHN is gone. I think we need another quality forward still.

If this is true at least its more money for us to use. I dont want a player who doesn’t want to he here. Regardless that he carried on like a little child. It will just disrupt the group. Better off to cut it loose.

A bit weird that no one else has reported it

Canterbury have released international forward Corey Harawira-Naera who was involved in a schoolgirl sex scandal earlier this year.

Bulldogs teammates Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor were sacked in March and then controversially reinstated as NRL players this month.

Okunbor, 23, and Harawira-Naera, 25, were deregistered by the NRL after it was revealed they had sex with teenage schoolgirls on a team trip to Port Macquarie in February.

The duo successfully appealed their sacking but Harawira-Naera remained filthy with how the club treated him during the scandal.

The Canberra Times are reporting the New Zealand international will signed with the Raiders and could make his Green Machine debut on Saturday week against North Queensland.

Canberra have lost Australian and New South Wales winger Nick Cotric to the Bulldogs on a three-year deal from next season.

Canterbury on Wednesday confirmed Trent Barrett will coach the club for three years once his commitments at Penrith end in October.

“We have acted swiftly to secure the services of Trent because we believe he is the right man to take our club forward,” Canterbury boss Andrew Hill said.

“Having spoken to Trent on a number of occasions we have been impressed with his vision for the future of our football team and how he will look to develop our players on and off the field.”

Barrett’s appointment comes just nine days after predecessor Dean Pay resigned as head coach following their disappointing start to the season

The Bulldogs have lost their past six - and nine of their 10 games so far this year -to sit outright last on the competition table.

It will be his first head coaching job since he coached Manly to one finals appearance in three years between 2016-18.

He will also be charged with rebuilding a roster that also confirmed the signing of Kangaroos star Cotric.

England international Luke Thompson also recently joined the club.

“Trent has been around the game a long time and has a great knowledge of football and how to bring the best out of players,” Hill said.

“We all look forward to him joining the Bulldogs family at the end of this season.”

The 42-year-old Barrett, who played 235 games in his career, has been largely credited for helping turn the Panthers into a contender this season.

And while there have been reports Penrith have issued Barrett with a hands-off edict to poaching players, there is speculation youngster Matt Burton could leave.

Burton is signed with the Panthers until the end of next season.

“I’d like to thank the Canterbury-Bankstown Club for appointing me to the position of head coach and for giving me the opportunity to become part of the Bulldogs family,” Barrett said.

“The club has a long and proud history of success in rugby league and is a club founded on strong work ethics and family values.

“I look forward to, and am excited by, the challenges ahead in terms of making this club a serious competition force again.

would also like to thank the Panthers for their support and understanding.

“As my job there is not yet done, and out of respect to the Panthers, I will not be making any further comment until the conclusion of the season.”

How can the Raiders even offer him a deal when he has two and half years remaining on his deal? Gut feel is he’s gone and they are just delaying the announcement for as long as possible.
Exactly what I was about to write. I thought it was against the rules to table an offer this far out from the end of a contract ?????????????????

Either this report is wrong (as far as tabling an official offer goes) or there's one rule for the Dogs and a different rule for every one else.

Canberra have fucking Whitehead, Bateman and CHN to select as backrowers next week.

If chn is not available to play for our club as of now the club should not have to pay him as he is not living up to his end of the contract.

Furthermore if someone else signs him for the remainder of the season Canterbury should not have to backpay his contract as reported in the media... And if the NRL feels he's entitled to that back payment it should be forked out by the club he's going to and counted against their cap.

Chn got himself into this mess and the NRL were the ones who took the hard stance. The Bulldogs hands were tied re chn being deregistered.
