I'm a little frustrated,
Last night, myself and 5 other middle aged men,
Business owners and respected family men mind you,
Went to watch the ice hockey game then afterwards went to the pub down the road to watch Bulldogs game and have a few quiet beers,
A band came on halfway through the game, and we had a few more beers,
I'd say posibly only 6 beers each were consumed between 7:30 to 10:30pm when we were asked to leave,
The security came up to one of the guys in the group and told him he had to leave after his drink as he was intoxicated,
I know none of us were sobor enough to drive, but by no means intoxicated to to a high level that would require being asked to leave, nor were any of us being disruptive at all,

I thought it was poor form, and given I know the owner I decided to have a quiet word with the head bar man about the issue who then supported the security and then forced us all to leave,

I was cranky over the incident as I have often taken my family there for a meal, and have had several functions there over the years, and to be asked to leave for no reason at all does not sit well with me,

You were probably taking up the pussy ratio so you were moved on back in my drinking days I got kicked out of a pub because a mate smashed a schooner glass over my head all in a bit of fun of course but he didn't get kicked out.
Some days you get kicked out unfairly some days you get booted for good reason

The thing is, I got kicked out of places heaps of times back in the day, and like most guys was proud of it cause usually there was a cool story behind it,

But at this stage of my life, getting kicked out of places is embarrassing, and no way do I want to go back there again as a result,
How do I go there now with my wife and kids?

I know the owner of the establishment personally, he lives on a water front property and I have delt with him in a professional capacity previously and recently just completed a contract with him,

My parents and in laws both live 5 hours drive from me, and when they come to visit they usually stay there in the motel section,

To be honest, I don't know whether to let it go and forget about it, or bring up the issue with the owner,

One of your party probably did something that gave a security guy or barman a suspicion that they were intoxicated. Could have been something as simple as a slight stagger on their way to the toilet or a bit of a slur as they ordered their last drink. Or they just wanted a younger crowd. ..

I'd just let it go. Is it really THAT embarrassing? Tbh, I'd be a bit miffed too but I think you're overreacting a bit.

Your probably right,
To be honest, I feel more embarrassed today about it, than I did at the time,
At the time, we all just left in a bit of a huff,

It's now, in the light of day that I reflect on it and I feel embarrassed. It's like I can't go back there again with my family,
I doubt I'd feel comfortable going back there and facing them after being kicked out,

And to be honest, it's like a hit to my ego. I along with the other guys I was with try to conduct ourselves correctly in public and not make a scene or draw attention to ourselves, so getting kicked out and marched out by heavy handed security has given the ego a bit of a hit.

I think that's probably my main issue.

But you prob right,
It's no real big deal I guess all said and done,

pmsl those renta cops are the best.....i got asked to leave our local pub a few months ago because i stumbled walking to the loo....security suggested i leave as i was intoxicated.
went to the owner of pub he called security man over to hear his side of the story....security told the owner i stumbled on way to loo because he believed i was pissed...
the owner told security that cant be right, because hes known me for years and i dont drink alcohol......no apology no nothing
told the owner hes going to be losing business having this bloke here, owner didnt care
and as a point of protest i havent been back to the pub at all

I guess the publicans are stuck between a rock and a hard place,
They have to protect their licence by adhering to the liquor laws,

Unfortunately the meat heads they employ to carry out this are not intelligent enough to desiffer who's drunk and who's not,

Posibly they need to use breathalysers,
Like you can't drive if you are .05,
Perhaps the alcohole laws should be if you are over a certain level then you are refused service and asked to leave,

But letting these meat heads make their own mind up is not the way to go,

Plus everyone thinks they are more sober than they really are :grinning:

I was once that drunk I got refused service in a bottle shop. Now that has to be a first!

So true, and yes we were all drunk,
Like I said we all had about 6 beers, in 3 hours and 3 or 4 at the ice hockey.

We were happy and in good spirits, no doubt about it,

But I was sobor enough to be able to intelligently try and reason maturely with these guys,
We were all walking straight, many talking straight, I don't recall any slurring at all from anyone,

I think it's a sign of the times,
Alcohole violence is a huge problem, in Australia,
I guess they just doing their jobs, like footy ref, they get it wrong from time to time, and my view they got it wrong with us last night,

Guess it's best to let it go and move on,

Haha I got asked to leave the joint I was at after only 4-5 beers. Nowhere near drunk. I ended up heading to another pub and continued my night for a few more hours with no worries.

Maybe they had recently copped some sh1t for being too lax with the R part of RSA and were just over compensating? I talked to a nice lady who was working at the first pub I went to as I was finishing my last drink. She apologised and said someone had a word to them and security were being verrrry cautious these days.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it mate.

This particular pub is one of 2 in the area,
And the other one is the known trouble spot,
The place we were kicked out of is known for kicking people out for no apparent reason,
And no doubt it's the reason it's the more family friendly establishment.

I guess I should just let it go,

Probably. I mean there's not much you can do about it so I don't think there's much point getting pissed off about it... And I wouldn't feel bad about going back there. It happens to us all from time to time (at least those of us who enjoy a beer)

Be grateful that your wife lets you out and doesn't make a big deal of it when you go out with your mates

Haha yeah I hear you. Sometimes a good vent is what is needed to get something out of your system and this place is a good outlet.

99% of guards just go on the clients direction, sure you get the 1% that think they are invincible and think they are cops, but other guards hate them too.

Clients can tell security to refuse entry or kick out whoever they want legally.

Nightclubs are the worst, but pubs are catching up, especially the ones that think they are upper class.
