You need an experienced halve to play alongside these young players.
You put two young players in the halves in the NRL and they will get belted week in week out. It just does not work that way, especially when everyone expects "instant success".
For years, Tigers had these issues with Brooks and Moses and the Tigers havent played finals footy for years. Ash Taylor was another "prospect" that flopped by chasing the money at Titans with no experienced halve there.
Roosters purchase most of their halves (Maloney, Keary, Cronk) and when they want to bleed a young halve (Flanagan) they have experience around them.
Cronullas premiership winning year consisted of a few juniors, though their spine was purchased over a couple of years (Ennis, Barba, Maloney)
Gould brought in Maloney to partner a very young Cleary for a couple of years, and now Cleary is nurturing there #6. Panthers are starting to look like a team which will give the premiership a crack.
Broncos are filled with "youth" and some of the best young backs and forwards in the game. There spine is absolutely atrocious with no experience (barring Milford who is a FB), and there performances and position on the ladder shows that.
A balanced squad of youth and experience is required and unfortunately we are nowhere near balanced to contest for the 8 let alone top 4 and beyond
