Looked at some vision of the kid, pretty impressive. Has a kicking game and a bit of spontaneous brilliance, don't worry that will be gone by round three next year.
And des won't drop anyone for him anyway

Exactly.

So what would his motive be to sign for us for two years. Especially since it is alleged that Foran is unfortunately headed our way. Clearly he is a decent half, so why at his age would he want to play second fiddle?
Even if Foran doesn't sign, it's not likely Mbye or Josh will get dropped. Either he will never crack FG and he knows it, or ......?????
Can someone please explain the logic here.

Actually saw this bloke play on the weekend for Newtoen Jets (Sharks feeder club).
Goes alright. Can create something out of nothing, has a really nice kicking game, and some nice footwork and turn of pace.

Plays five-eighth, and talks on field.

Joined the Sharks late 2015 on a one year deal, but with Townend, Bird, Maloney, Drew, and Brown, was never going to get a look in.
That 2015 he was on fire in Intrust Super Cup.

Did you see that centre for Newtown? Wouldn't mind signing him.

Pretty sure was the 3
That would have been Capewell ( back rower/centre) , currently contracted to the Sharks for this year ( previously in Intrust Qld side Ipswich Jets, Broncos and Roosters). Yeah certainly goes okay and was actually playing second row for the Newtown Jets this year but made the change back to the centres last weekend. Got a try assist ,made nearly 200 metres and won man of the match. Is relatively young (23)

Nice. Wouldn't hurt hunting someone like him down for depth, would put a lot of pressure on the current players.

At his age its highly unlikely that he'll be signed up as a first choice half for any club so he has to settle for second fiddle.

I don't mind this signing. Cleeland can play and we don't always need to sign up and coming 18-20 year olds. Cody Walker and Nathan Ross are proof that sometimes ikd debutants are duds.

Btw I know this signing does nothing much for our FG squad but will help out NSW Cup from being a little less sh*t.

Considering we still need a first choice halfback great signing.

People get so busy round here criticising our promotion policy(among other things) that they fail to contemplate that maybe Cleeland see opportunities being available here. maybe he's just confident about his strengths and looked at what was missing from our club and thought his skillset might be just what is needed here.

I hope he does well for us next year at whatever level he plays at.

Nice post Alan79. I did make a tongue in cheek comment earlier about the signing but what I saw in those highlights showed he does have something to offer. Seemed a confident young man comfortable in the role given to him by his coach(es) the Walker boys at Ipswich . If he gets a chance and is allowed to play his natural game, his kicking will go a long way to solving the deficiencies we currently have in that regard. I will support any player bought to the club and for however long they wear the blue and white.
