I'd have been quite happy if both him and Cogger were still here. I saw good potential in both of them.
We didn’t have the skill set to get them to bloom. We needed the full package at the time

I can say that he is an excellent backup. Perham is way better. Crichton is l33t.

I hope Crichton lives up to his price tag, he’s not a player I would have gone after myself (unless I was seeking a specialist/strike centre) - I definitely do not rate him as a FB, Perham is better in that position imo, but if we intend to use Crichton as a centre, from those likely available, Dane Laurie, Will Kennedy and maybe Blake Taafe, would be much better options if we’re looking at a fb.

Nick just highlights how diabolical our coaching was under pay and barret.
And how much easier it is to play better as an outside back with Hughes and Munster playing inside you

Credit to Meaney, he's playing well, looks a fair bit stronger and Bellamy is getting the best out of him but some of those holes he had to run through were as big as the grand canyon.. Paul Cariage would look good playing with Munster, Hughes and Grant..

Bellamy gave him pretty big wraps for the beginning of the season. Guess we'll know what he really thinks when Paps returns from injury.

Meaney will still be on the wing when Pap is back. Meaney played well on the wing last year. He's been a good buy for them. I'm happy to see him do well. I'm also even happier with our current back five and we still have Papali'i, Skelton, Xerri, Chrichton etc to come into the mix...

They’re both alright players… I don’t know about ‘happy’. Meaney wouldn’t crack our back 5. Hes on par with Perham… they’re both alright players
Perham - 5 games for 1 try and 1 assist avg 19 runs for 184m, 15/17 tackles.

Meaney - 6 games for 5 tries and 3 assists, avg 14 runs for 145m, 31/36 tackles.

I'd say Meaney is well above Perham as it stands.

Everyone saw Nick coming from Newcaslte as a classy player with some skills, agree with others that we couldnt develop him with shit forwards like napa and co

Montoya, Cogger, Holland, Meaney, Reimis, JMK plus our many halves such as Averillo suffered in their development because of this.

There also wasnt enough senior leadership or stability once we kicked James Graham from the club. It has been a tough half decade.

Yeah we don't have to worry about outside backs for a while. Good on Meaney. He's improved in every way but you could always see he had it in him.

Good luck to Meaney. Always tried hard at the dogs in a crap squad. Led the speed and fitness drills. He deserves the good times now at Storm

Agree with most of the positive comments re Meaney and also that we have a promising back five into the future. I also back CC with his recruitment of Crichton. I realise some are concerned about his fullback credentials but CC has demonstrated already that he has an eye for talent and potential and also the ability to develop those qualities. I think CC and Gus are making a great team and whilst ever they are together at the bulldogs we will be competitive.
Meaney made a good decision to sign with the storm as his career and next contract with definitely benefit.

Des is that you? How’s Tolman going? Has he moved in back home since retirement? Did you put his ‘worlds best forward’ certificate on the fridge?

Haha please you trying to tell me attacking stats for a spine player aren't relevant. One of the worst takes ive seen this year.

If you take stats completely out of the equation, Meaney is far better on the eye test anyways.
