Not saying you're wrong, but Greenburg said it would be announced after the grand final.

Is the coach signed to an NRL or ESL side this year?
Any news about the SOO fullback signing as well?
Is there a reason why its not happening until after the GF or possibly until GF week? Don't know. Maybe he's coaching a side still going around? Maybe Greenberg is waiting for that team to complete its season?

PS - I don't claim to know any 'inside information' either.

If that were true, it would have to be Hasler. I can't see any other reasons to hold off until GF, it's not like the dogs appointing a coach would have affect on other teams. Unless the coach is coaching a team with potential to make the GF.

So why is the GF pivotal in announcing the decision?

Interesting.

Wouldn't it be wise to get this out of the way ASAP so the new coach can prepare for pre season?

From a publicity point of view, the NRL would want to focus on the final series, not a coaching change. Hence why if we have already made a decision, we wont formally announce it until after the Grand Final.

Why the f**k would we care what the NRL want? We could announce it any time and all it would do is give the game and club more exposure as more people are paying attention and there's more media about footy at this time of year. That makes no sense. We could announce it any time we want and should.

This whole waiting thing is just fan hope that we get someone like Hasler or Bellamy. The whole next few days thing could indicate that almost everything has been agreed to and settled on but a few more things simply have to be finalised.

Or we don't have a coach confirmed yet and are still working on it.

because all clubs are supposed to be working under 1 banner? Not every team doing its own thing.

Ofcourse we can announce it if we want. No one will stop us. However Greenberg is wise enough not to take the lime light from the NRL. It wont give the game any more exposure than what a GF is going to give. It shouldnt even rate much of a mention. It they were to resign JD, then they would have extended his contract. If its Ricky Stuart, then its big news.

Like Byrd said, the AFL have had 4 clubs name new coaches in the past few weeks and it hasn't detracted in any way from their finals series. They're the much bigger competition who does most things properly so I'd like to think it the sky doesn't fall in their league it wouldn't in ours.

Maybe it's the other way around... in that they (the club) want more publicity for the announcement of the coach, so are waiting till after grand final.

Announcing it now, it may tend to get lost in the hype and exposure of the AFL and NRL Grand Final.

Surely if Dymock was going to remain head coach they'd have announced the upgrade to his contract already.

That is not true, if you notice St Kilda's coach didn't announce he was leaving until after they were out of the final.. So the argument of waiting for a coach still involved in the finals has some merit, but if it is an announcement for a coach not involved, then it shouldn't matter before or after the grandfinal.

ding ding ding. From a business point a view you have hit it.

I understand the freo/st kilda saga happened during the final series but also rumours are circulating that this indeed happened even before the final series happened however freo didnt want to announce it until st kilda were out. Hence why they waited which is stupid.

It has taken away from the game as the big point in the past week hasnt been the grand final qualifer or the semi's on the past weekend or the Brownlow medal or the GF, it was the coaching saga. In between games and pre and post games it was talked about and it dominated the footy show. Hence, yes it did take a big portion from the game.

Im not saying that the NRL/AFL will order teams to wait, I'm saying some teams will wait until the season is over to announce these things. Bigger exposure for them as nothing else is on, while at the same time not taking nothing away from the teams still in it.

If we get Dymock, wont be any more good signings for next year.

If we get Hasler, we will get Tony Williams.

If we get Bellamy, we will one day get Cooper Cronk (off contract after 2012 - possible five-eighth?)

If we get Stuart, we will either get Todd Carney or Josh Dugan.

All 3 big name coaches are all rumors, i didn't start these rumors, just gathered what I could from the rumors that others have suggested on this forum, the realistic signings if rumor were true.
