We miss Manns ability to slow the opposition momentum with his big defence. And of course his role as the link man.
In tandem with Burton’s big boot and running game we are left with a massive hole when these two don’t play.

Regardless of the chase I want the opposition having to cart the ball back an extra 10-30m each set rather than starting sets on 30m line each set like yesterday

When u make 15 mistakes in a game and basically give a team 25 percent more possession in a game that’s the reason we lol unfit .
Hold the ball and complete to compete and give yourselves a shot to preserve energy to attack rather than defend Hutchinson and reed mahoneys endless mistakes

Our kick chase the last two has been poor. But we lost the battle in the middle early and probably switched off against Manly after scoring an early try.

We lost the middle again against the Cows but if we had Burton and his much better kicking game we were chasing well. Our problem last night was more about dropping the ball than anything else though.

Burtons kicking game is the main reason behind why we are in the finals. Last night that was very obvious.

100%. The issue though was by that time he had to throw in Hayward and he wouldn’t have had enough time to prepare. None of the team would’ve. We can bang on all day about training well and etc, but I think the issue here is even with versatility with playing positions, we weren’t prepared for that move at all and that’s what I think Ciro needs to concentrate on is ensuring our boys are ready for any scenarios that are just like this.

Just because a player isn’t playing first grade doesn’t make them a recruitment fail. We need depth for FG and a pathway for younger players to figure their game out. On your list of fails I think Tetevano, Taaffe, Suluka-Fifita and Poasa fall into these categories.

Can’t agree on Luai, I argued at the time that he’s too similar to Burton and I’d take Burton any day, way more upside.

Stefano and Hunt I agree, either would have filled the big bopper forward we’re sorely missing. If Gus manages a good prop signing or two for next year then all will be forgiven.

100% right. It’s that extra few seconds of air time most people don’t even notice, yet is invaluable for getting your D line in place before they can make moves.
