His defence was missed. I think Xerri‘s involvement has been more noticeable in defence than attack.

It certainly hasn't been a great few weeks for him, that said, it is not easy to play behind a badly beaten forward pack. I hope CC and the coaching staff can come up with something to take on manly, at-least they got an extra day to prepare for the game

People keep asking what did Burton do. Today we saw what he didn’t do not being in the team.

The metres he makes kicking are worth an extra 10-20m per set at least not to mention kicking us out of trouble when we’re not making metres. You could see it from the first few sets they were in our half from the get go.

I called this two months ago. Sexton controls 90% of sets coming out of our own end, and the majority of tackles in attack. It’s too much for one man to do, we have way too many passengers at 5/8 and that’s everyone selected there this year. Any team worth their salt will pressure him, especially as he is not an elite half. It’s frustrating our Australian rep leaves him hanging weekly

Top halves earn $1.4 million plus now. Burton isn't even close to $1 million. 750k or whatever he's on isn't crazy money

Section controls 75% of the team coming out of our own half and in attack. it’s killing him and our team. I’ve called it for two to three months that unless Burton is involved as a half and not just an extra centre who kicks we are cooked.

That’s what most of our fans don’t see.

Burtons long kicking game is close to if not the best in the comp.

Our shit forward pack has only been able to defend so well because Burto has been keeping the opposition a few meters out from their goal line every time he kicks

Just because Burton doesn’t score doesn’t mean his running game is poor.

He attracts two defenders almost every time and that is the main reason Xeri has been so good this year

Last week was a collective issue not a Burto issue on his own. This week it was a Hutchinson issue on its own and it had a domino effect.

While this is all true.. Ciraldo does deserve some credit for realising his mistake and hooking him at halftime. It’s pretty rare to bench your half at halftime, at least CC recognised what was happening and did something about it.

I think he gave him as much time as possible to make up for the errors but it just got worse. He’s now sitting between backup half and backup backup half after that performance.
