Official Bulldogs vs Tigers - Sunday 5:30pm

Wilson averages more metres per game than Montoya
You have to be careful using pure stats because there are easy metres and hard metres. The eye test tells me that Wilson gets crumpled up like an armchair and rag dolled more times than I care to see. In the same vein that Averillo use to. That's the worst way to begin a set. I don't personally think either Montoya or Wilson is the answer for significant metres out of defense and we are resigned to rely on Kiraz and hope his body holds up for the season.

The Wahs prob wish they kept him after seeing Kosi on Friday night lol
And they've lost DWZ for potentially 2 months of the season lol. Kosi HAS to play now :tearsofjoy:

I agree. Yes Wilson might make 140m but usually takes 20-22 runs and gets smashed a lot. Yes he is light on his feet and quick. But he can drop as many tries as he scores. Also his hands aren’t great. Yes he can improve but by no means walks into the team. Funny that Montoya and kiraz aren’t playing this weekend but Blake is?

I wish he proves me wrong. But defensively and his hands are my concern.

Amone can't even get a starting spot in a trial.
As the resident know all, I thought you would realise that they normally play almost 2 separate teams in a trial match, which means starting or not doesn't really mean shit!

Totally agree. I believe his best carries were actually 2 seasons ago when he played a few times running out of fullback. Too bad Perham spent the whole year there. His speed is best utilised with space to use his light frame and light feet. It is most certainly not coming out of a corner with 3 forwards breathing down your neck ready to bash you. It's kind of like having a Lotus Elise and using it to tow a boat.

He ended up getting dropped at the Warriors toward the backend. He ALWAYS came in off the wing and got burnt on the outside lol.

He was good in 2023. To be honest I didn't watch many Warriors games last year so I'm sure you're right. That was a problem for him when he was with us too. That and he couldn't catch. Haha. Like I said, out of any of the starters, I'm sure he's got the shortest leash so if he's struggling in those areas early, we'll probably see Wilson.

Kiraz will be asked to do a lot of the heavy lifting in getting us out of trouble on early dummy half runs out of our own half. But like you said, with his back injury and knee problems you wonder if he'll hold up with the heavy workload.

why are we wasting time giving quality game time to Taafe and Hutch? Both have zero future at the club and wont be resigned...
They should be playing young guys instead or people who have a future... not these two.. FFS!!!

My guess is that both Taaffe and Hutch are competent ball players.
They both make players around them look better, cos they initiate attack and have good vision.

Sure they both have physical limitations - but they're conduits to better team work.

If you wanna see how a team can perform, you need some architects out there.

Same with Cassius Tia - let's put some serious creative influence out there

Most interested to see this weekend the comparison between Sam Hughes (the incumbent) and the likes of DSF, Amone, Todd, Zyon and Underhill. In attack it'll be who has more post contact metres. In defence, it will be looking at who has superior speed out of marker and the A and B defender position. And of course who gives away more ruck infringements.

Because their the likely f.g replacements if Tracey or a half goes down? Taaffe is capable as a fill in, not a fan of Hutch but he is experienced hence why me would possibly get the nod?

Yeah! That cnut has no idea. Only took the club to it's first finals in 8 years. WTF would he know?
Neck up you fkn clown.

I'm pretty sure it was all luck that got us to the finals. If we'd recruited specialists in every position, opposition teams would've known what to expect. But it wasn't the incredible defence or the calm confidence the team played with. It had to be something else.

Wilson looks a lot bigger this year. I seriously hope he makes the nay-sayers eat their words.
If you wanna talk pissweak carries from the back 3 ....Fox was Captain Concession.

Makes sense - if u r too light and gonna get dominated - hit the ground fast.
But when you get sniff a hole - you gotta capitalise ....hence his nickname "The Foxx"
That's what he did -
Understand your strengths and weaknesses folks ...!!
Fox did.
Hoping Blake Wilson can take that to the next level in '25!!

Lots of players get ragdolled at times forwards included, I think that this happening often is being exaggerated regarding Wilson.
Maybe CC wants the grunt but lesser finishing ability fd if I know really but soon we will see.
