Official Bulldogs vs Tigers - Sunday 5:30pm

Wilson looks a lot bigger this year. I seriously hope he makes the nay-sayers eat their words.
If you wanna talk pissweak carries from the back 3 ....Fox was Captain Concession.

Makes sense - if u r too light and gonna get dominated - hit the ground fast.
But when you get sniff a hole - you gotta capitalise ....hence his nickname "The Foxx"
That's what he did -
Understand your strengths and weaknesses folks ...!!
Fox did.
Hoping Blake Wilson can take that to the next level in '25!!
I like Wilson but not for that first or second carry out of our own line. But if it's not him, then can Xerri take a few more hit ups? If he could handle the high ball, I wouldn't mind seeing him at fullback, he could be a gun. Fox knew his limitations and he was good at dropping like a stone and spreading his legs out like he was in the recovery position so he was harder to pull back. He is parra's problem now. Lomax better make 300m a game otherwise they are in for another long year.

Jack Underhill is also in the squad btw at 29

You have to be careful using pure stats because there are easy metres and hard metres. The eye test tells me that Wilson gets crumpled up like an armchair and rag dolled more times than I care to see. In the same vein that Averillo use to. That's the worst way to begin a set. I don't personally think either Montoya or Wilson is the answer for significant metres out of defense and we are resigned to rely on Kiraz and hope his body holds up for the season.
Wilson was also recovering from pneumonia for a large part of the season then breaks his leg, look at him in 2023, superior to Montoya in every way. Montoya could barely crack a weak backline in a bottom 4 team last year.

anyway if CC picks Montoya it will be because he sees something defensively with Wilson that he doesn’t like, King spoke about him struggling with the system for a long time

we shall see lol

surely they don't play kiraz and a few others though.

curran and morrin are pretty much out with the all stars game as well

U were right he didnt go for the starting 17... How confident is CC these days lol.

Kiraz and a few others like Sex and King still have a few niggles so they probs weren't gonna play anyway aling with Curran and Morrin.

I admit they have looked very good at training and cohesion across the whole squad is healthy but im sure CC would have been keen to see if his squad could do it against another NRL outfit rather than the NSW cup side. Maybe saving it for the Gronks.

I'm surprised kiraz still has the same back issue surely there are other options to get it fixed.

Listened to the Bloke in a bar poddy today. They said whispers that Tupinuoa could be a bolter for an edge.

Been rehabing it with Sutto since he got here.. I dont think he has had a run with the main squad yet.

Still very young, whatever the injury is he is worth being very delicate with. Kid is starting to really hate pre-seasons though for the wrong reasons, rather the floggin he hates doing nothing which is a massive testament to his character and work ethic.

Sam Hughes playing interesting.. I thought he would have had his spot locked in

Only thing holding Hughes back from a break out season is his confidence and experience... Kid surely understands how good he can be.

We only have 4 centres
Crichton, Xerri, Tuala, Gabrael - end of story. That's it for both NRL and Cup!?
Seem short staffed??

Maybe William Afualo & Sosaia Kaufusi (Flegg) if they're still about.

Otherwise, I dunno?

Backrowers - Smith, Hayes, Tupounuia could plug a hole for a while.

We've been throwing 'em out in the last 18 months ...
Averillo, Alamoti, Samrani, Clark, Perham... (even Michael Gabrael...)
Maybe there is a secret plan afoot to utilise some current wingers or 5/8's in the centres??
Only if needed ....of course!?
We have arguably the best centre in the game who is also our captain? It doesn't get any better than that regardless of who the other centre Is.
I swear people on here will complain about anything

Well I don't believe that ! . . . Oh wait

In 2023 I developed, in retrospect, unreasonable high expectations of Wilson for 2024. I guess the contrast principle was at play when comparing him to the like of Perham, Declan Casey and Braindon Burns. 2024 could not have been a worse year injury wise for Wilson for the points you mentioned above.

I like everyone else was very surprised that we decided to bring back Montoya. But I can see the reason why. A whole series of unfortunate events happened to us in the winger position late last year. CC and Gus could not predict that JAC would dramatically do what he did. However, it compounded the effect of Skelton leaving. I have a feeling that they were caught off guard with Skelton leaving. Now with Wilson coming back from a big injury and sickness toll in 2025, the club had to look for who was available at wing position and they got Montoya and Tuala.

I hope Wilson fully recovers and cracks on at some stage this year, but it would be unreasonable again to place high expectations back on him. So for now, I'm not too fussed for the winger position as long as they don't make too many bad defensive reads and helps out Kiraz in some sort of meaningful way.

I don't think they wanted skelton otherwise they would have kept him. Time will tell if that was the right call.

Woods injured also hammy .
kiraz probs won’t play round 1 . Looks like tuala and Montoya on the wings round 1 if Kiraz isn’t playing .
I don’t even think Amone will make the round 1 team . Will be interesting to see what cam has in mind .
