I think you might be discounting how difficult it is to play first grade after the time out, I would expect Xerri barring injury to be a much better player with another off season under his belt. How does Wilson go at centre? If he goes alright, I suspect if he keeps playing like today he isn’t far off replacing Xerri. As much as I love Xerri and can’t point to anything he’s done wrong, he seems to have plateaued a bit in the last month and it might be worth giving him a stint in NSW Cup to get some pace and attacking confidence back.
You're right about Blake but you can't deny how vital it is to have experience such as the Fox in the team not to mention what he does off the field. But it is great that next man up mentality and the fact out NSW Cup side is doing so well and keeping the pressure on the NRL side. It's been a long time since we have had that and Blake is a good example of it.Every time Blake gets selected, he leaves nothing out there, but today was the best we have seen of him.
I love the Fox, but some big decisions are looming because Wilson has a lot of potential, and he's a smart player too.
Did you miss his run when he came off from about 5m out and got to the 50m line before he attempted that pass that parra intercepted. He will learn from that I suspect.Wilsons great, dont get m wrong, but in that side he had to be in the right place at the right time and he did it, not to mention the best inside left step, still has some improving to show he can do it on his own.
A lot of people spoke about how it was going to take Xerri time to get going, but I think the bigger challenge was keeping the legs going for a full season. How does Wilson go at centre? It was said he has a busted shoulder in the post match stuff. And he played through that.Xerri played the second half injured. Wilson is a great backup to have but JAC is one of the first picked when fit.
In saying that did anyone else feel Wilson mustn't be 100%? I couldn't believe he didn't back himself when he made that great break up the middle.
Good points. I really like Xerri and thought he was excellent in his first few games. Again not saying he’s done anything wrong and with JAC out for a while I’d say both he and Wilson will keep their spots which I am totally fine with.I think you might be discounting how difficult it is to play first grade after the time out, I would expect Xerri barring injury to be a much better player with another off season under his belt.
Yep, all the talk before the season was how hard he’d been training by himself to keep fit and all credit to him, I love him and hope he stays with us for a long time. He’ll keep his spot while JAC is out, will be interesting to see how both he and Wilson go for the next couple of months. Our depth proves itself yet again this season, we didn’t miss a beat today without JAC.A lot of people spoke about how it was going to take Xerri time to get going, but I think the bigger challenge was keeping the legs going for a full season.
I completely agree with what you're saying about him. Hasn't done much wrong, but the body and legs look a bit cooked out there the last month.
Keep Xerri at centre the whole year, he’s done nothing wrong, he’s starting to hit holes off Mahoney and now Sexton. Love the depth we have at the moment. How does Wilson go at centre? He will definitely stay there while JAC is out, and our depth is such that we can roll Wilson straight into the team and watch him have a cracking game today. We have every position covered by multiple guys, it‘s beautiful to see.Keep Xerri at centre the whole year, he’s done nothing wrong, he’s starting to hit holes off Mahoney and now Sexton. Wilson signed till end of 2025.
