Don't forget, Penrith weren't only missing Cleary....they had no JFH and Yeo who hold the middle. So, it's not all Cleary. Yeo is the glue in that team and very under rated what he does in that team. They had no Koroisau either.Problem number 1 is Baz, the style he want us to play is just never going to work without the right players and unfortunately there's very few of these players in the game right now. The other issue with his system is that it's way too reliant on a halfback and other specialist players...if you lose just one of them your whole game turns to shit, just look at Penrith without Cleary. I think we could throw a few different players into a team from other clubs and they would make little difference without a genuine top tier halfback in the side.
Most of the teams at the top have good halves and are a different side without one. Storm can live without Munster but struggle without Hughes. He creates so much for them. Roosters also struggle without Walker or Keary as a 7. Newcastle are better with Pearce than without him. Faiders have faded since George Williams left. So, Baz is not coaching any different to any other coach....it's just that he has a shit **** called Flanagan and a rookie make shift 7 called Avo. You need creativity from your half. You can't expect Baz to have any success with no half and just to bash and barge with soft cock forwards.
Also, here is my point. Watching the Manly v Sharks game. Tommy Turbo is playing, he scores 3 tries, sets up a shit load and they score 40pts. He comes off and Manly haven't scored a point since. So, does that come to coaching or cattle? I would say the latter...
