Problem number 1 is Baz, the style he want us to play is just never going to work without the right players and unfortunately there's very few of these players in the game right now. The other issue with his system is that it's way too reliant on a halfback and other specialist players...if you lose just one of them your whole game turns to shit, just look at Penrith without Cleary. I think we could throw a few different players into a team from other clubs and they would make little difference without a genuine top tier halfback in the side.
Don't forget, Penrith weren't only missing Cleary....they had no JFH and Yeo who hold the middle. So, it's not all Cleary. Yeo is the glue in that team and very under rated what he does in that team. They had no Koroisau either.

Most of the teams at the top have good halves and are a different side without one. Storm can live without Munster but struggle without Hughes. He creates so much for them. Roosters also struggle without Walker or Keary as a 7. Newcastle are better with Pearce than without him. Faiders have faded since George Williams left. So, Baz is not coaching any different to any other coach....it's just that he has a shit **** called Flanagan and a rookie make shift 7 called Avo. You need creativity from your half. You can't expect Baz to have any success with no half and just to bash and barge with soft cock forwards.
Also, here is my point. Watching the Manly v Sharks game. Tommy Turbo is playing, he scores 3 tries, sets up a shit load and they score 40pts. He comes off and Manly haven't scored a point since. So, does that come to coaching or cattle? I would say the latter...

He left and signed without telling anyone. We had no choice.

Anyone playing in Remis's current spot with any decent skill level would be performing great.

He's literally playing in a team that makes the rest of the competition look like chumps.

Hell even slow as turnstile Hopa would look half decent in the current Storm outfit

It wasn't just the Storm game, it was as soon as they lost Cleary. Everything is off the halfback @ Penrith, if he doesn't put in a 8/10 game then everything breaks down because they just rent moving the ball to where it needs to go. Yes Yeo is also a big loss, but again I don't think a forward should be that vital to your system that everything breaks down without them.

I very much doubt the storm struggles without Hughes, an inferior player obviously comes in but it's not as in their entire game breaks down. Hughes does play more on the ball than Munster but they are pretty interchangeable at times, Munster for example will come in at first receiver with Hughes shifting to second on even third at times when they're playing from left to right and then do the opposite when right to left. The halves are also almost always getting the ball and playing direct with an edge forward on their outside shoulder and a forward pushing up inside, as opposed to us or Penrith where the halves have to drift across field to linkup with runners.

i think there's a pretty big difference with coaching tbh, Baz is trying to be way too cute instead of simplifying the game and playing to our strengths (we don't have many). I doubt he will see out his contract.

That's why you don't spend millions of $$$ on your backline.

Still not buying Harper or Remis form. Playing in two of the best offensive teams in history in the quickest form of rugby league in 100 years and still looking average.
Have a look at Harpers stats mate - they tell a different story. He’s having a great season

Harper is in a much better team and gets early ball compared to our centres so of course he looks better at Manly.

He isn’t a star but is a 1st grade centre.

Still don’t know why Pay thought Montoya or Holland were better. This guy was our NSW cup captain and played great in his debut game for us. He is developing well over there.

Not a star yet but very fundamentally solid player who does all the little things right. I've watched every manly game for the past 3 months and Harper's form isn't just down to being in a good team, he's more than carrying his own weight and is keeping Suli out of the side.

I think Harper is a decent player. Not really the player that will make or break your premiership campaign though. If our backline next year performs well, people will probably stop looking at him like the one that got away. I look at the envy of our fans this year as something like a teenager who rides a bike seeing a kid a few years older with a cheap car that sees it as a wonderful thing even though it's not actually a prize.

Agreed that he isn't anything special but I don't think people are seeing him as the one who got away, like how we do with JT. It's more just frustration with our recruitment and retention over the past few years when we let go of genuinely decent players (like Harper) and the replacements we recruit are flops.
