I'm not a huge fan of Christmas anymore but nor do i hate it. It's nice to catch up with family and i do love any occasion where I'm encouraged to eat like a horse. But the celebration isn't that religious anymore for most people. It's become a celebration for commercial entities to a large extent to encourage mass spending. The most enjoyable part for me is seeing the young kids in my extended family enjoy it.

Normally this time if year would be winding down work for a well deserved break after a busy year. This year will be the first Christmas since 1995 that I won't have been working coming up to it (95 was last year in high school).

So for me it's not a good thing when you're job hunting.

My kids already know what Christmas is really about but we still let them have the commercialised fun as well.

It's not fair if I stop their fun and miss out fun with other kids.

It's not fair if I stop their fun like the rest of the kids.

I've got no issues with kids getting some nice pressies. And I'm sure that most famnilies prcticing religion would educate their kids about why the Christmas tradition exists. But I've witnessed some selfish runts out there. Saw a kid arguing with their mum the other day about getting an I-Phone for christmas. Kid wanted the latest when they'd been given a new phone two months ago and they were being obnoxious about it. Mum says they'd already gotten X-box games and the shoes they'd asked for while the kid complained that they'd already be old games by christmas and why couldn't they play them already and just get the phone for Christmas. Mum says that the kids current phone cost almost as much as their last car. Kid tells mum she should get a better job. Kid was 11 or 12 by my guess. I was really wanting to call them a selfish little shit and tell them they should appreciate that they were getting anything after talking to their mum like that.

I counted myself pretty lucky if i was allowed to ring my friends when it was raining on the home phone as a kid. Usually i'd be told to get an umbrella and walk over there if i had anything important to talk about. I'd not have been able to sit down for a week if i spoke to either parent that way.

Time is all relative bro..As Einstein explained.. ‘Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.’

I love Christmas. Awesome time of year. Yea it sends me broke and I usually stress about getting it all done and paid for but it's always enjoyable.

Our second kid is due in February so the Mrs will be ready to pop by then! I'm sure she'll be extra bitchy this year lol

The missus does all the Christmas shit. And she’s always pretty organized.
I just go where she tells me me to go.
I worked Christmas day last year. I think I’m working Boxing Day this year.

I like the lead-up to CHRISTmas. You know CHRISTmas Spirit in the air and all, shops decorating their stores insides and out, and he paint designs on the windows. CHRISTmas itself I used to love a lot as a kid, waiting to open the presents and see what I got. These days it's all about seeing what the expressions on the kids faces when they see their toys.

Apart from that the Lebo BBQ feast is my highlight. I don't really get presents anymore and I don't really complain about it either. I'll usually buy something I like for myself while doing the CHRISTmas shopping!
