Okunbor is not young for an NRL player he turns 25 tomorrow - he is just not fg standard.
I more meant game time, he’s not a seasoned winger and yeah the fact he’s not first grade material is why he hasn’t played heaps of games and his off field dramas. Schoupp needs experience and somebody to help him. Oks is not that person. But yeah I’m a nutshell you are correct

There isn't anyone to replace Jackson as captain, there's a big leadership vacuum at the club - but he is going to have to put his big boy pants on and be prepared to put a rocket up TPJ, Hetherington and Dufty.

The positive is JAC seems committed to the cause and Vaughan looks to be interested in a leadership role so he isn't alone.

Plus Mahoney reminds me a lot of Ennis from a leadership standpoint. I wouldn't be surprised if he's our captain next year.

This year Thompson and Vaughan have to be the most vocal. Fox is obviously a natural leader, but we need one of the forwards to be vocal too.

For the people saying "it's only a trial", do you think we were holding back last night?
Plenty of teams have lost both trials and gone onto better things, conversely, plenty won both and then commenced to stink the season up from the get go.

I really just going to take it week to week. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will a winning team come immediately.

The fact that Baz was risking injury to Burton, Fox etc late in the game when we were down 30-6 proves how seriously he was taking it. Probably too seriously..

I hate reading too much into trial form but most teams played hard, looked sharp and in good form. I know it'll take a while for our team to gel but the lack of discipline and simple errors are alarming. Anyone can tell by watching us, we're not a well coached side. Our team look like they've barely trained together before.

Not as much as holding back but when they started to get tired and hurting, they could not find the motivation to put in that extra effort. Something they might do in a more important game.

Yes it was only a trial
Yes it was the first time most of our backline play together
Yes we can improve
But what I’m worried about is the lack of improvement in any department across the park. We still don’t look strong, we look weak and get dominated up front. How are we meant to compete when a sharks forward pack missing a few players also completely embarrassed us.

Look, you have guys on here saying it’s early bla bla bla, but I did not see one bit of improvement. Besides the one attacking play we made and burton looking crisp off a Avo ball we did fuck all again. Same stupid mistakes, brain farts, penalties etc etc etc… if we don’t somehow turn things around in a massive way then I can see every team in the comp smashing us again this season.

Baz has to be watching his back surly! I don’t think gus is going to accept mediocre with a roster like we have. You watch Baz in the dressing room addressing the players and I just see a coach talking to a mate, on another hand, furner should have never gotten another year. Our toughness is non existent and he is a big part of our defence!

For once I’m dumbfounded on what needs to be fixed. It’s a bloody mess, I just can’t do another 2020-2021!
Barrett wants to be everyones mate and doesn't know how to act as a coach

Manly had the same issue with him and he hasn't changed

I wonder if Gould still thinks he is the next wonder coach?

Before the penalty against fox we looked good. It was 12-6 and we should have got the escort penalty. That changed the whole momentum.
fix up the errors and penalties which is easy, play with more patience and field position and we are in the game.
the try was executed beautifully and also Naden no try was a set peice.
errors like Jacko not playing the ball properly is the little 1% that we can fix.
big next 2 weeks for them before cows.

We just need to cut errors and penalties out.

Sharks won because they had a 7-1 penalty count early on, and we had 12 men for the last 10 of the first half. That's where they piled on the points.

Everything will come eventually, we have to be patient, but errors are something we can control that we should not be seeing.
9-1 penalty count

You don’t actually go down to 12 in trials you just sub the sin binned player off, some of the penalties were bullshit but some of them were just stupid rubbish including Naden for backchat.

Yeah someone pointed that out. Which is fucking hilarious cause we looked like we had 12 men out there lol
