So I got a COVID story.
Bloke who works with my nephew, they install personal elevators, and stair chair lifts, those kind of things. He was in The U.S when COVID first hit, couldn’t get back, but as they had an office over there at least had the chance to keep working.
Was a COVID skeptic, and then got it. And pretty well blew through it, seemingly unscathed, said it was just like a flu and he’d had worse. Finally gets cleared back into Aus beginning of the year, two weeks in quarantine, back to work and all is good.
Few months ago starts feeling short of breath, one night his wife finds him on the stairs (two storey home) almost passed out. Taken to hospital and it’s found he has blisters and scar tissue on his lungs, from COVID.
This bloke is early 40’s and football fit, 90kg’s odd. Nephew tells me he’s dropped 15kgs plus and his dark brown, almost black hair from the beginning of the year is now almost completely silver. Just before lockdown they went around and installed a chair stair lift for him so he can get to his bedroom.
Doctors say given his age and fitness he should make a full recovery, but no guarantee of when.
So…. It’s NOT just a bad flu or a cold, It’s fuckin’ COVID 19. And it will fuck you up.
