Like unlimited broadband: use as much as you like for a fixed price.
Hahahaha... exactly!

Tedesco, Pearce, Cronk!!!! I think we have space for one more, how about you Cameron Smith??? Come and join uncle Politis’s team! At the roosters we don’t hide the fact we try to buy premierships, just as they don’t north of the border! Both of our mottos are the same - “if you can’t win a premiership, buy one!”

The only player I’m frustrated about losing is Kasiano!

We need to give the players we have the benefit of the doubt, only because they were playing under the ex-coach regime! If Pay brings in the bulldogs training standards that most of us are aware of, then the men will definitely stand out from the boys! Is it March 2018 yet????

We mustnt be over the cap by much if releasing abbey and getting priest puts us under. Is abbey on 300k? Priest must be on peanuts
That's how full of shit the media is.

Don't forget we released abbey which is 300k

Signed priest minimum 100k

And we're re-signing lichaa

We were under the cap before we release abbey

So the shedding is over and with that we will now be in the market for some big signings for 2019 with Eastwood and Morris bro's off contract ($2m+) at the end of 2018 so I'm sure we are shopping for some big talent to join us after 2018 season.
We are now cap compliant so the Des-truction left behind won't last that long.
Don’t forget Graham’s money as well as kasianos as we paying significant portions even abbey should free up close to 3 million

How can we be sure about that. It will take years before all these back ended deals are all gone from our cap.
The 2 worst backended deals were graham and eastwood and they finish at the end of next season

How on earth are the Roosters 800k under the cap and us 1 million over the cap?
Well, the story goes like this.
Apparently when the cocks signed Tedesco, it was for less than what we were offering.
Rumour is that Tedesco signed for $500K but we offered $1million.
The deal breaker was the "hush hush" top up that Tedesco got.
Uncle Nick snuck a set of keys under the table and when Teddy went outside.....

Not to be out done, Dib also passed over a set of keys but forgot to do it "under the table", so the salary cap auditor added another $250K went onto our cap.
Tedesco, all excited, ran out with a big smile on his face, only to find this.....

Well, we all know where Tedesco ended up, but we are still stuck with the $250K Bongo Van on our salary cap!
Can't get rid of Feastwood, Tolman or the Bongo Van.....

No this was at the bottom of the same article lol they have 800K wtf

CRONK TO THE CHOOKS?
THE whispers of Cooper Cronk joining the Sydney Roosters next year just won’t go away.

The premiership winning halfback has kept a decision on his playing future very close to his chest, and the Roosters are watching closely.

Apparently the tricolours still have about $800,000 spare in their salary cap for next year despite signing Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco.

Throw in a couple of third party deals and Cronk could easily get the $1 million he commands.
Thats just a bloody joke

This whole 3rd party deals thing shows gives away exactly what the NRL are about.
They couldn't really care about a level playing for the competition. If they did, then they would not allow 3rd party deals.
No, the NRL only put a salary cap in place so clubs do not overspend and hence become broke so the NRL does not have to bail them out, NOT to make it a level playing field.
The NRL only care about money, not a level playing field

How will it take years? The major back ended deals were Graham (gone) Eastwood and Morris's who will be gone next year. We are fortunate they are on their last year.

Very disappointed to see Brad Abbey go before he had a chance to reach his full potential. He is in the same boat as Martin, Lewis, Cleeland, Woolford, and a few others.
Never was given a real chance. He was the same as Barba when he started. Barba couldnt tackle either, but he learnt.
Abbey will prove a lot wrong, but probably not while being coached by Stuart.

I think abbey can be a real talent, unfortunately you can only invest some much time in someone with the salary cap etc

I think Mbye is the biggest one and he has 4 years to go. Prob Tolman, Klemm and Jacko would be on escalating contracts as well. The good news though is the cap goes up each year to over $10m by the end of the TV deal in 5 years.

I know the Roosters have ways of manipulating the cap, but the fact that the Storm and Roosters can be under the cap and we were apparently over by a million $ says a lot about our management and recruiting.
It has a lot to do with how much you pay your bottom half of the cap as it is about your top players. For years we have been too loyal as a club and overpaid our fringe players for their service. Thats what got us in trouble in 2002. Guys like the Hughes brothers were getting state of origin type money.

That’s exactly what I was thinking
