I remember Phil Gould said at the time it was bad management as you could easily fit our 2002 team within the cap.

Btw the only reason we got in trouble was that dodgy fat developer/builder guy Achillies Constantinidis leaked our Stardome payments and other info to Kate McClymont (who got a f***ing journalism award for it).
Actually it was deliberately manufactured by McIntyre so he could take control of the club.

The whole salary cap overspend was orchestrated by Gary McIntyre
That’s inaccurate, the Oasis project & the Bulldogs link was leaked to the Herald reporter by Al Constanidis a Clive Palmer look alike, did business in the same manner with the same morals & scruples! Thank “big Al” for taking away our 2002 title.
McIntyre was already chairman of the Bulldogs & Chris executive of the Oasis project why would he orchestrate that debacle?
In fact legal opinion from several prominent QCs about challenging the NRL’s decision (salary cap breach & stripping of points) depicted a restraint of trade, could have competently argued through the courts. The ramifications for the NRL would have been enormous-suspension of competition until verdict etc ;The Club & McIntyre,in the best interest of the game decided to cop it sweet.
We would have been the number sporting brand in the Southern Hemisphere- so blame the greedy businessman not McIntyre

McIntyre said on Saturday he must remain in charge of both the leagues club and the Oasis project. He said he would resign only if Mortimer asked him to - something the CEO was understandably reluctant to do as he has no jurisdiction over the leagues club and the football club relies on it for annual grants.

McIntyre, who is at the centre of the salary cap scandal, was the subject of intense weekend pressure to quit amid new revelations he and his family could be reaping up to $1million a year from the club and associated entities.

"McIntyre is reported to know if an additional toilet roll is used in the leagues club, yet he reckons he only signed four players and doesn't know what the rest of them are getting?" one bemused official asked.

That's Gary McIntyre, he's as pure as the driven snow is he? You must be David McIntyre

Off course Hasler told him not to offload, and that's why the fucking shit coach never won a premiership with us and is now out of a job. If Hasler played to our teams strength then blokes like Kas would have seen more minutes, hoppa would have been trailing him and we would have had a more potent attack. Even RFM would only get 5mins on the field at times and his offloads came off shit and that's because of frustration.
And Kas didnt wsnt to play under Hasler, he fucking loves the club and couldnt wait to get out of there. Bellamy will get the best out of him.

As for national team, thats how all the Fobs play, gimme a samoa v tonga match anyday over the boring as fuck structured footy Aussies play.
Des stopped Kas from offloading because 3 out of 4 were rubbish. He had to rein him in because we couldn't cope with all the lost possession. Kas can't handle the mins he got this year, giving him more will only weaken the defensive line. The bloke is lazy. That's it. Oh and I was talking about his games for Samoa not NZ and he did the same rubbish he did with us only he played longer and missed more tackles. As for RFM he is a good young prospect and bringing him on slowly this year was a good plan. He now has a bit of FG experience that will let him build on for next year and that will be good for us. I'm sure Pay will employ the same strategy with one or two of our young up and comers next year. All coaches do it.

Abbey leaving is not the sole reason we are now under the cap

Hopoate won't be at the dogs next year either. If the NRL approve his brother to play again next year he will join Manly If they don't then the family is off to super league
