I live in a townhouse and I can pretty much look into my neighbours bedroom from my bedroom window and just pull my pants down and go to town.

I'm joking also, please no one report me to the authorities :sob:
Would be a good perk if there was a honey next door. Floggin' the chicken in front of the window mightn't go down the best with the other neighbours lol

its not for me, I currently am on 700 sqm and its not big enough .. I'm looking for an acre as we speak..

doesn't mean I right .. people laugh at me when I say I want an acre
I'm with you on the land thing. I have 700+I myself. I have at least 5 metres on each side of my house so I don't need to see / smell / hear my neighbours. My point of the thread is living in close proximity to people you don't know, can't control who you have to live with.. I think it's crazy

I almost bought an acre at Picton with a monster house but it was a bit far from work. Lucky I didn't buy as they copper it with floods and recently fire. The community fees were also ridiculous.

But some people like having others all around.. I don't, but they do. What I'm trying to say is, not everyone thinks or feels the same about close proximity living.. some people get anxious knowing there neighbour is too far away..

Sharing bins is the absolute bane of my existence. Fuck all these pricks I live with who have NFI what goes in what bin, and have absolutely no concept of breaking things down so things actually fit in the bins.

Not looking down on anyone. Many units cost more than a home. So nothing to do with their financial status.

I dont know the living arrangements of people reading, who on here lives in a unit as opposed to a house so who would I be looking down upon?

I'm just stating the facts and trying to understand what are the advantage and why people choose this option?
Ok carry on.

Boosty... we live in Australia. There is something called "Strata" which comes into play if you are having problems living in the unit. I own an apartment in Kogarah. You know what the worst thing about it is? Walking up 3 flights of stairs to get to the top. None of the other things you mentioned are even a factor... they are all "What if" scenarios.

Building materials aren't meant to go in bins either. I see people putting things like broken tiles and bricks in bins... FFS seriously?

Let me guess... it's one of those new apartment blocks that are advertised as 'luxurious living' when they first opened?

All these new apartment blocks are shit. I wouldn't buy an apartment build after 2000 TBH. They're all plasterboards thrown together.

Unit living was awesome.

Didn't need porn as we had a nympho couple next door and they literally shook the walls every 4.5 hours. She loved anal too.
The old couple on the bottom floor always had a tray of sweets out front with an open invite to come inside.
You had to pre-plan big turds with the neighbours above and below or you'd block the drains.
Having the Hells Angels owning the building ensured no one farked with your wheels and you prioritised your rent. And they could get you any drug at any time.
A strong wind from the North and the place would whistle like Rolf Harris.
Good times.

I personally wouldn't like to "own" a unit, as I would hate to have to get permission to do anything, and would struggle with the concept that I don;t actually own anything other than the air between the walls.

So, when it did come to buy, I bought the tiniest, shittiest house i could afford whilst still staying in an ok suburb. Yeah, it was a semi across from the train line, next to a drainage canal and under a flight path, but those 205 square metres and that 2 bedroom semi that sat on it were all mine to do, within reason, whatever i wanted. It also didn't have a lawn and the garden was low maintenance, so that was a win too.

A unit is better than living in a shot gun shack or above a bowling alley

A home is a home. It’s not about the building materials it’s from, it’s what you make it (sounds corny but being for real).
I don’t hold judgement on any persons home ever
