A home is a home. It’s not about the building materials it’s from, it’s what you make it (sounds corny but being for real).
I don’t hold judgement on any persons home ever

Building materials aren't meant to go in bins either. I see people putting things like broken tiles and bricks in bins... FFS seriously?
Bah you know how many people say that to me in the street I work in when I fill there bins full ?
My argument is you forfit the right to dictate what goes in your bin once it's curbside, although when you overload it and get the Orange sticker that's when they get real angry

Unit living was awesome.

Didn't need porn as we had a nympho couple next door and they literally shook the walls every 4.5 hours. She loved anal too.
The old couple on the bottom floor always had a tray of sweets out front with an open invite to come inside.
You had to pre-plan big turds with the neighbours above and below or you'd block the drains.
Having the Hells Angels owning the building ensured no one farked with your wheels and you prioritised your rent. And they could get you any drug at any time.
A strong wind from the North and the place would whistle like Rolf Harris.
Good times.
Me and my missus at the time when we moved in together we were renting a unit for awhile. They built our unit and the neighbors unit mirrored so the two main bedrooms backed on to eachother so at night when we or the neighbours had sex the others had no choice but to hear it.

The unit served it purpose but it felt like everyone was living on top of eachother. When we finally got a house it just felt a little more free.

My friend lives in a 40 year old unit in Parramatta its like a fortress.

No one hears us ripping bongs or making noise and I never hear his neighbours making noise.

I wouldn't want to live ina new unit or apartment though.
Too many dodgy poor excuse for builders these days.

If doing the job properly becomes more important than shortcuts for a quick buck?
Then I might consider a unit?

I wish I could do like my uncle.
Be retired from the police, travelling the country in my 4wd and caravan with a pill popping alcoholic wife by my side!

Buying your own dream home is a big thing in someones life, buying a flat wouldn't be the same, still trouble makers can't get you evicted.

Gosh whenever I hear the word bongs it always reminds me of this...

Those drug using hippies!
Lock em up and throw away the key!
But if they like to have a few drinks after work, then be mean to the kids and dog and later beat up their wife, then good on them for being true blue fair dinkum Aussies!

We are very blessed to live in a society where we have more than a piece of tin or cardboard over our heads - anything more we should be thankful for.
I've ways had an issue with living in a unit

I don't like communal areas and living in close proximity to your neighbours

What if your dickhead neighbour is reckless and causes a fire? Through no fault of your own all your stuff is burnt

What if the people living under you cook offensive smelling curry every night. They really brew up a storm.. you have no choice but to take a whiff

What if someone parks your car in or damages your car

What if your neighbour has loud music, screams all the time, has screaming kids, beats his Mrs, you gotta hear it too

What if body corporate says they want to change the look of the building, you need to stump up the money to pay (if your a home owner)

What if the building cracks because a fatso sleeps on one end of the building all the time

What if someone on the ground floor has corona virus, everyone in the building gets it

What if someone is a dirty mutt and attracts cockroaches and ants, you cook it too

What if the guy next door has the runs and farts all night and belches.. you gotta listen to it and smell it

Who would ever want to live like this? Like living in an unpredictable jungle, every half an hour throws up a new challenge.

Why not live in your own house, on your own land, Noone can bother you. It's ridiculous isn't it?

I use to live in a unit across the road from McDonald Jones stadium. I loved it and would sometimes would make a last minute decision to go to the footy if I felt like it lol. Also this hot chick lived above us and I heard her sweet moans one night while me and my wife were in bed lol, she thought it was awkward but I enjoyed it haha. I still miss the place at times, but we left because we fostered a rescue dog we obviously couldn't keep there.

I would never own a unit, too restrictive and çostly.

I'd rather a deserted island that is about at least 30 boat ride from civilization because fuck people, I'd be close enough without being too close.

My first property was a unit because you get much better value for money the only issue in my mind was the strata fees

You pay strata fees but at least you don't pay land tax.
From what I hear, the fees you pay in strata doesn't justify the work they do?

Maybe people who live in apartments can confirm this?

I'll probably end up living on the streets one day?
They can't charge you rent and fees for being homeless.
People shit on the homeless but they are some of the most resilient humans you will ever know!

I hear ya, when the wife and I finally got our own home I immediately cut a tree down. It didn't need cutting down I just wanted to do something without having to ask permission.
