Shifty played a couple of seasons for the 'burgh, before I moved here.
His performances are the stuff of legend around here, the locals reckon he'd kick 3 40/20's a game and possession was rediculiously in our favour, from the amount of kicks he'd get to stop in goal.
After every game he'd go back to the pub and sink piss with his feet in a tub of ice.

Les Johns. Just a magical player and he would have been in any era of the game including today.

Turvey ,lamb
Growing up 4 of my neighbours were dogs supporters so most back yard footy games would turn into a knuckle before kick off over who would be baa or turvey. Black eyes , bleeding lips blood an torn shirts , to have the honour to pretend to be a bulldogs legend. None of us backed down ever lol just like those dogs legends .and I'll always miss the 80s and how awesome it was to be a dogs fan
I remember those days fondly but for some reason I always wanted to be Greg Bretnal. Who could ever forget the Bretnal/ Gearin try against Easts in the Grand Final.

Could you imagine having Steve Mortimer and Terry lamb guiding our current pack around the ground? We would be unstoppable. It would also solve our halves dilemma.
Those two are my pick for this thread. Turvey and Baa Baa
The game was a lot different back then though but both of them were champions.

Shifty Sherwin hands down for me. Because we haven't been able to replace him with a halfback of similar ability and he left in 2007.
Terry Lamb is the obvious because of his leadership and magic, but we have had some good leaders since him.

Hate to say but I loved watching sbw and mason play back in 2004. No one can match that.

Omeleys juggernaut runs, hazems freakish goal kicking, utae slam, general pattens try scoring ability.

Its too early but Ennis will be right there too.

his brother was pretty good as well, I watched him a few times in the local leagues. Funny how the dogs dropped him in 07 and we went on to have the worst season in 50 years

absolutely !!!!!

these names bring smiles ... so proud of our team heritage and pedigree (pun intended lol)
John Timu and Willie Talau were stellar and Roy Asotasi was always great for us!! He deserved to share in South's win this year, as one of Russell's initial targets in re-building the Rabbitohs, so disappointed he departed the Dogs in his prime.

Great thread to reminisce on previous contributors.

Special mention for Craig Polla-Mounter, heroic enthusiasm ((((:-)
