I'm not too crash hot on Indo food either.

My favorite Asian cuisines are Chinese (stir fry), Thai (pad chicken), Malaysian (satay), and Vietnamese (pho, rice paper rolls)... but Japanese tops the list (sushi and sashimi).

I remember I went to Melbourne once in November for Derby Day. It was nice and warm on the Saturday, but in typical Melbourne style, Sunday comes and it's freaking cold and miserable. The cold air penetrated my jacket, rendering it useless. I needed to warm up. So I stepped into a small, seedy Vietnamese joint and ordered laksa. Within minutes of starting to eat that, I was sweating.

Rainbow beef. That shit is awesome when done right.

First time I had it was at the Golden Empress in Ermington. Was friggin awesome. Went back there a few years later to find that they sold the restaurant and renamed it to the New Empress. Still had the rainbow beef though so I ordered that and what I got was basically baking soda and flour with a tiny bit of beef mixed in. It was horrible.

The century under The Star makes a mean rainbow beef. Haven't been for a while but was the best I've had in Sydney.

The Golden Coronet in Strathfield is a good one. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
