I'm currently working my way through The Handmaid's Tale.
Based on the bestselling book by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, its one oft hose dystopian future type storylines. Basically, America has polluted the fuck out of itself, and this has been linked to a dramatic fall in fertility in women (bit like in Children of Men - the Clive Owen Film). All attributed to God being upset. So, somewhere along the way, the government of at least the New England aopt of the US is overthrown and a new relgious, utopian nation a called Gilead is formed. Then the few remaining fetile women are basicalyl endlaved to serve tyhe eilites who can;t have kids.
When you watch the flashback scenes, its done in a way that makes the viewer see how its completely possible. Strictly adults only, there's a fair bit of violence, rape etc. Main star is Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men,, Top of The Lake), who is slaved to service a Commander (Joseph Fiennes) and his very unlikeable wife (Yvonne Strathovski (sp?). The girl who played the daughter in Gilmore Girls is also in it.
I'm getting into it anyway.
