Opinion We can afford Hunt, Paps and Thompson

Almost every team pays almost all of their 18-30 close to minimum wage, yes. Most of the ones on more than 300k not in the 17 are duds that their club is trying to move on. Now you know.
Whats close to minimum wage every cent counts. Which 12 players in our 30 were on 130k this year ? Would love to know?

Hughes, Kautoga, Morrin, Patolo, Perham, Skelton, DSF, Topine, Turpin and Wilson. Maybe others too just a quick look through the roster.

Then we had duds like Knight and Taaffe who should of been on minimum wage.

On your sheet you said turpin was on 300k that's not even close too 130k ?

Sexton wont do shit with the youngsters, Hunt is an experienced mentor that gus can haggle for pennies.
I'm not against Hunt, just doesn't sound likely we will get him.Reckon it will be like every other gunna lately that falls over but hopefully I'm wrong.

this season we had more players in the 200-300k bracket and not one player over 850k i think.. that allows for less (than 12 players) on min wage.. but most clubs who have million dollar players, maybe even 2, have that amount of min wage players in their 30

Sullivan - Big contract playing NSW cup with the tigers
Flanno Jr - Worse halve in NRL and NSW Cup
Ammone ? - Deregistered trying to hit people with hammers

Quality list Hunt has helped
Add another mediocre player in Burton to end his career

I don’t think hunt would ask for 1.1 million take 700
Just like Lomax did he took less to leave that shut hole ️ of a club st g with vampire boy

Great calculation but it's not that simple. So get rid of 7 players from the top 30 for 3. Where do we get the money to pay to fill the rest of the squad for the 4 players U threw out ?
This is the problem when you spend a large chunk of your top 30 on reserve grade players.

There's many way to skew your SC spend, but i have been critical of our approach over the last 20odd years (post 2002) whereby we seem to spread our cap between our top 30 rather than be top-heavy on our NRL squad.

Compare us for example with Manly who have at least 2 if not 3 players on over 1M and quite afew players in both NRL and NSW cup on minimum or below the average (350k). We on the other hand, dont have any 1M plus players but probably have the most expensive NSW cup team

Wilson returning from injury will be like a new signing.

How many comps have manly won with this approach with turbos, DCE etc

Maybe Hunt needs Burton more than Burton needs Hunt.

I did see on a podcast last night that Ciraldo isn't keen on the idea of Hunt coming.

Gould previously tried to get Hunt in August 2022 for the 2024 season. Hunt re-signed in October that year. Gus had another crack last year. He's been very keen of late with Danny Weidler reporting lots of stories about Bulldogs interest in Hunt. Now Gus has a clean shot no murky contract details to work with. Lets see how Hunt situation plays out.

I genuinely believe in Ciraldos vision, Gus bringing a 55 year old half who’s whinged at every point is infinitely worse than any half or 5/8th we perceive to be average. I’ll take a Burton and Sexton combo any day. Gus isn’t thinking straight
