Opinion We can afford Hunt, Paps and Thompson

Did anyone you know this? because I didn't until now - listen at 4:45 mark, explains salary cap.


Regardless of how much you play a player, the NRL assesses the player and sets what they deem their market value is. The NRL's salary number goes towards the clubs salary cap, regardless how much you're paying them.

So for example, Thompson is valued by the NRL at $750k market value. The Dogs pay him $600k, regardless of how much we're paying him the $750k counts towards the clubs cap, not $600k.

Really - does that kinda defeat the purpose of good recruit management.

And further begs the question - How do/did the Roosters do it??

If the NRL impose a figure ...then they must've been mighty generous when they came to assessing the Rorters Sombrero!
Of course they are/were.
