@Utility writes better than everyone else and says it best. I'm not even going to try and compete.I genuinely believe in Ciraldos vision, Gus bringing a 55 year old half who’s whinged at every point is infinitely worse than any half or 5/8th we perceive to be average. I’ll take a Burton and Sexton combo any day. Gus isn’t thinking straight
Oh no it’s @bradyk with the calculator out againHughes, Kautoga, Morrin, Patolo, Perham, Skelton, DSF, Topine, Turpin and Wilson. Maybe others too just a quick look through the roster.
Then we had duds like Knight and Taaffe who should of been on minimum wage.
You might be right about Gus but I don't know for sure because I don't have access to his brain.@Utility writes better than everyone else and says it best. I'm not even going to try and compete.
Gus is great for the game and done some great things for the club. Gus does have a few weaknesses, can make mistakes and can allow his ego to over rule him. Gus is the smartest person in the game the downfall to this is that Gus wants everyone to know this.
Gus came to Canterbury when it was weak and the board was about to be challenged again. He held every card in the negotiating and got what he wanted which was full and sole control. He had his power clipped at Penrith to the point it all ended. The great thing of this and I have praised Gus many times is that he's made the board redundant and the factions can't have any sway anymore. This has allowed Canterbury to be steady because it's a one person operation when it comes to football.
The Hunt one will be interesting. I do believe Ciraldo is keen to build the team he currently has and bring through the next generation of players. He's very influenced by Cleary and Cameron in this regard and watching the Panthers 2peat doco showcases this. Ciraldo spoke so well on the doco. Watching that doco I'm confident Ciraldo is more like Cleary than any other coach or administrator. Gus on openly praises Politis more than any administrator he's worked with certainly way more than Bullfrog. Gus has always been front and centre in wanting to recruit and it's the Politis Rooster competitive streak in him. It's why we are so linked to so many players and same at Penrith when Gus was there. Politis always believes that buying is best and there's no form of patience.
This is just factually incorrectAll the tops teams pay close to minimum wage for most of their 18-30. Actually almost every team does and if they're not on close to minimum wage outside the top 17 they're most likely duds the clubs are trying to move on and are struggling to do so. Our depth will be fine.
Ben Hunt is Origin first, Individual second and Club is very distant third.Sexton lead us to the finals last season and deserves another shot.
Ben Hunt couldn’t lead his side to the finals and I don’t see any evidence to suggest he’s any better than Sexy.
He’s a confusing dude because there’s kind of two Ben Hunts.
1. Origin Ben Hunt (Hooker, bench impact player, winner of SOO etc)
2. Club Ben Hunt (Halfback who has been consistently average and taken his team to the finals how many times?)
He looks like a million dollar player when he plays SOO but at club?
Meh…
Hunt is an ordinary player and a worse bloke. Can’t believe some are clamouring to pick up Dragons trash. Hasn’t done anything and never will. Praying we aren’t interested.
Keep Gus’s name out your mouth.@Utility writes better than everyone else and says it best. I'm not even going to try and compete.

How do you know what Gus is thinking?Gus is a big admirer of Hunt. Gus first met with Hunt in August 2022 hoping to get Hunt for the 2024 season when he came on the market. He re-signed with Dragons just before the November 1 deadline. Danny Weidler was first to report Hunt wanted out during the 2023 season and he immediately said our club was interested. Weidler again reported a few weeks ago our club was lurking for Hunt.
I personally don't think Hunt is the right player. What Gus thinks will decide everything.
Yeah that's a good point. He doesn't really fit what's written on the walls...Ben Hunt is Origin first, Individual second and Club is very distant third.
I won't say he's a worse club footballer than Wally Lewis, Dale Shearer or Bob Lindner he's sure up there.
Nah Gus picks the teamGus haters never mention that if we do sign or not sign a player, CC agrees.
If anything, CC will have the last say over Gus.
It should be pointed out that "4 min wage guys" x $135k (the Top 30 minimum for 2025) = $540k.You can have 4 min wage guys. Our kids coming through won't be on big $.
