Official Round 12 - Bulldogs vs Eels - Discussion Thread

Anyone else think that the circular tattoo on Napa’s calf looks like one of those ringworm scars?
Haha isn't it such a shit tatt? Have always hated it, looks so alone

Statistically. What was more chance...
Tolman scoring
Or us popping over 2
Same as last week.
Push a cut out pass in our own 40
Or take the tackle and go to golden point?
Had we have kicked the goal we still could have stil managed to lose. It wasnt in the dying minutes, there was 15+ minutes to go. Im not saying it was a great move, but it was heads up footy and we were on the front foot.

It was the wrong move but to blame Foran well thats just stupid

Leveling the score was a given, win or lose after that so be it, but that was a very dumb choice especially since Tolman falls to ground the first person that touches him

I’m very happy with that performance

We pushed a flag favourite to the brink. Good work Doggies

Tolman being Tolman didn’t help though

Cheers, but it’s mine and I will do what I want with it..

Foran is a very talented footballer, but when the game is on the line or the troops need rallying. He’s nowhere.

And, bukake is my response to your Japanese comments..

He's not "nowhere" when we have one attacking option in our team the opposition finds it eaiser to shut us down by concentrating all there effort on Foran.

He played well today BTW.

Nah I blame Sutton. Didn't even bother going to the video ref for the 'obstruction', countless bs penalties in the first half.
Your 100% right every time a try is scored and there is suspicion of an obstruction the ref has always gone to the video with try or no try.
Teams have only one captains call during the game and they are reluctant to use it. More importantly they have only 10 seconds to make a decision. Now the referees have found another way of influencing the game

Bit of a meh game. Parramatta continue to get away with a win whilst playing poorly and today just about any other side, well, maybe not the Broncos, would have beaten them.

A few observations on the game.....

We did some okay things, but like usual we show little urgency to cover up dropped balls. Case in point Lafai who just wanted to argue the toss when he lost the ball, allows Parra to get an offload away and score.

Napa is standing still when he gets the ball in attack and then just runs up with all the effectiveness of a wet lettuce.Never bends the line.

We desperately need a decent play maker and our spine is the weakest in the NRL.

We should have taken the shot for goal from the penalty too rather than the quick tap, where we wandered aimlessly within the ten as we normally do, like we have no idea how to score from that distance.

Foran unfortunately looks like he is already playing elsewhere with very little enthusiasm today.

Katoa at least provided some spark and the intensity dropped once JMK returned and started playing dummy half.

Our shining light today just for his magnificent effort in scoring a try was Jake Averillo. the kid has ability.

Not saying that it would have made a difference in the end, but that decision by the referee ( surprise Mr Sutton) to penalise us for obstruction when Montoya scored instead of going upstairs like he normally would for any other team , compounded by the fact that it was Foran and not Jackson arguing the toss with him and missing the opportunity to challenge it, cost us. Technically we scored four tries today and ironically one of our tries was a carbon copy of the one disallowed, yet it was awarded without reference.

Stats wise the only thing that we really did not win was the penalty count , that was 8-3 to the Eels. Completions were equal.

We at least won the second half 10-0 but that was little comfort considering we were outscored 18-6 in the first.

Are we even talking to each other?
Hey dude Im gunna put in a lil grubber pounce on it.
While we can nit pick everything you can only review lost chances and work on it next week.
Im not the prick running the witch hunt and can only oppose it.

Boys a playing a lot better really really goes to show pay had no idea and we should have one all 3 games under georgallais just stupid costly individual’s that costed us
Im still pissed off but you make some valid points.
Were scoring more points.
We should have won. We were actually a contender against one of the better teams in the comp. Still, this should be a given for the Dogs.
Thompson's early arrival has been a positive.
Avo is getting game time. Hes getting smashed but he is turning up.
Meaney isnt brilliant but he has been stable at the back. Gives Steve more options when Hoppa's ready to return. Im hoping Barret can get more out of Meaney. Be interested to see what he could become under a real coach.

Hate losing, especially when its there for the taking but better footy than earlier in the year.

He's supposed to be our leader on the field but he doesn't take control. Doesnt take a genius

He's not the captian and when Jackson is off Tolman is the captain and Tolman took the quick tap without consulting.

So I ask again, what the fuck are you talking about?
If you're saying Foran is responsible for Tolman's decision to take the quick tap.

A quick tap has never been a decision where you consult your captain first! Did it work out in our favour 20 mins later? No. But it didnt cost us the game.
It should not have been a quick tap in the first place and his decision as one of the slowest forwards trying to catch the defence out cost us the game or giving us a chance to take it into extra time. We were on top at that stage. Drawing level would have lifted us even further.

Tolman is playing for a contract and he is becoming more and more selfish by the game. His brain explosion putting his self interest before the teams supports this.

He's always been selfish. I honestly didnt see anything different in yesterdays game than what he's been doing for years. Bloke just tucks it under his arm and doesnt even think about an offload.

Anyone saying it cost us the hame is just looking for excuses!! 15-20 mins aas plenty of time to scire a try and take the lead. We had numerous sets on their line and couldnt capitalise. So no, it didnt cost us the game.
