I think you are misreading the situation.

Think of it this way. What if we turn a blind eye to JAC's drug offences and he keeps his position on the wing?

How many young players waiting for their chance, now think it's OK to go soft on standards, or leave the club because it denies them their opportunity of playing first grade, because the club bends over backwards to keep failed stars?

It sets up a chain reaction of disappointed players, lower standards, and potentially losing promising young kids to other clubs.

You know a club can penalise a player right? They don’t have to sack them. Just like the 22 other instances of players getting caught doing drugs in recent years. Hell, someone who did worse having driven on drugs and over the alcohol limit (Trindall) has stories about how great it is that Sharks just re-signed him lol. But we are the holier than thou club apparently.

Hope we will have the foresight to do the same when the time comes. I don’t think Gus is a career bulldog, I don’t really think he’s a club first guy, and I think he has done views that are a bit out of touch with the modern game and society

So fucking right and yet they’re clueless.

Honestly, if anything, I am the one showing loyalty here. You guys will all but worship someone for as long as you feel they are helping the club, then turn on them in the blink of an eye. Stick with them for as long as they are useful. Great mateship qualities there.

His dad was a cop. Probably has a selfrighteousness because of that. Probably also looks down on any crime.

Nope, you’re taking my words out of context. I said someone was talking out of their backside because I believed they were representing speculation as objective truth. We talked it out like adults and respectfully agreed to disagree.

The only people I think are boneheads are those who can’t tolerate an opposing view without resorting to insults. I’ll give anyone respect if they are willing to show it. Show me where I’ve demonstrated otherwise.
Ok, then can you prove that Gus is only in it for the money and that the club is a dictatorship, as you have previously stated, and if you can prove it I won’t believe that you are representing speculation as objective truth.

I think Gus’s total control over the football department has been pretty well documented.

As for him being here for the money, that’s opinion, but I do believe there’s at least circumstantial evidence to suggest it isn’t a passion project.

Cmon Utility, you're better than that... Where was JAC'S 'LOYALTY' to:

1. The club
2. His team mates
3. The coach
4. His pregnant Mrs and family
5. The clubs sponsors
6. The supporters...

when he thought it was ok to 'get in a car and drive' whilst under the influence of coke the week of our 1st semi final match in 8 years???

People make mistakes...however...he also made it at the worst possible time and let everybody down with his own actions. The trust is also gone by blatantly lying and not manning up for his own stupidity. If you and others on this forum are playing down the fact about him driving whilst under the influence, then maybe you need to speak to families that have lost loved ones to drink/drug drivers. In my line of work I've seen plenty of carnage on the roads through impaired driving. Some get lucky, and some don't...

Hopefully this sends a clear message to all our players present and future. Whilst wearing the blue and white, team is always 1st!

Cheers. 88

Nah it’s Gus’s fault for rushing to comment on social media.

I think that’s pretty hyperbolic.

First of all, the police were satisfied enough that he wasn’t impaired to allow him to drive home, so I really wish people would stop saying he endangered lives… If he was a risk to anyone in the state he was in, he wouldn’t have been allowed to get behind the wheel. Coke can be traceable in a person’s body long after the effects have worn off.

Second of all, his family is his business. Who is anyone on this forum to say he let them down or question his commitment as a father? Is every father who enjoys a few beers while their wife is pregnant letting their family down? People should really stay in their lane with that sort of stuff. From all accounts his family is 100 percent behind him.

Yes, he got into trouble at a bad time for the club. But you know what? He also came to the club in its darkest days. He took a chance on being part of the rebuild of this place and he was the first really high profile player to do it. He captured the attention of kids at a time when they were short on heroes and our brand was a pretty hard sell. He helped pull in sponsors. He showed a passion for this club that I haven’t seen from any player since James Graham and Josh Reynolds left. He may have gotten into trouble before our first finals game in years, but as far as I’m concerned, he is also a big part of the reason we are playing finals again.

Whatever he has done to let this club down, I can guarantee he has done a lot more to lift it up. And after getting sacked, the first thing he did was post about his love for this club. He made a point of going on socials to let the fans know how much being a part of this club means to him. He thanked just about everyone involved in the club with one notable exception.

If you want to discount all of the good he has done for this joint, it’s really your call. But I find it a real bummer people can’t reflect on all the good he did for the club and forgive and forget.

Who cares? If it’s about only having good characters in the club, then it’s hypocritical. By that logic a rapist can be welcomed if they apologise profusely.
And by your logic, it's all good to be a drug driver who has blatantly lied and shown no remorse for his actions? Yeah... what a fine example our young pups can aspire too!

I'm not forgetting what he did for the club. He was very popular with the kids and fans. But he also didn't come to our club for peanuts. $550K a year for a winger! Pretty amazing money. I get drugs can stay in your system for days hence why the police let him drive. But if the club lets him stay, what message does that send to current and future players at the club? It's ok to do coke? If you were Ciraldo trying to install a team 1st mentality then he's totally gone against the mantra! The answer is to move him on and attract players that will follow the mantra. And if they don't, then they can fark off as well!

Fair enough, that’s your opinion…but good luck trying to fill a roster if you want a team of no coke users. I don’t get the need for this zero tolerance stuff, mate. More successful clubs than ours currently is have forgiven players for a lot worse. And putting out negative stories about your own player… a player who has done a lot for the club. Just yuck! Bad taste, city!

I'm hearing you Utility and agree with you that coke is an issue amongst football players. Unfortunately for him he got caught, and is now suffering the consequences. I hope he gets a second chance and signs up with another Sydney club.

Cheers. 88

Could have gone down very different if he didnt lie to the club... Mans on big coin and he hasnt been repaying it on the field since he has been injured alot, Alot of his value this year was what he brings off the field since he hasnt been on it and he shat on it in the biggest week of our last 5 seasons. He could have been forgiven if he didnt make an ass out of the club/gus.
