Not sure about that. It was 4 tries to 2 , and Canterbury were awarded 7 second half penalties. Too much dropped ball was the difference. Souths played smart and were deserved winners. Whenever Canterbury score 14 or more points before halftime they try to defend their lead. They shut up shop. They will be no more than a nuisance value in 2018, unless Pay changes things up.
It's not the number of penalties but when and how they were given. Souths had 7 (yes 7) of their 14 penalties blown on the 4th tackle, and another 2 blown on the 5th tackle. All of these were within the Dogs 40m zone.
Yes it was 4 tries to two. But 3 of those should not have been awarded.
Greg Inglis Try - Should have been no try and play called back as our defence was not set after time off called by ref.
Hymel Hunt Try - Ref impeded Hoppa from having any chance of getting to the ball, and ball was knocked on during grounding anyway.
Cameron Murray Try - Incorrect play the ball (
