How does Kikau escape criticism? He done Fuckall
Kikau has shown time and time again, he can flick a switch and be the most damaging player on the field.

This being a trial, im not too fussed with him. Burton on the other hand, cant do the same. So seeing him have a shocker doesnt give any confidence he wiil get his shit together by round 1.

Dont worry about Kikau.

Well at least we didn't trial like the cooked chooks hahaha

The first 20mins was a solid hit out then the ref took control along with Walsh. The reserve grade standard errors gifted them the lead.

I just watched replay. We were def on top for first quarter of game. Thats a good sign, just get points on before we lose the momentum. We were defending great again, they didnt look like scoring until Tracey blunder. Lots to work on i wont go into my opinions after a trial, will wait till after round 1. Plenty for coaches to tweak in two week period

Wing, halfback and goal kicking are our biggest concerns this year, you must come to grips that we are not top 4 material. Wake up and smell the roses.
1. You must go up in 6’s not 4’s.
2. Sexton may get us to scrape into the top 8, from what I’ve seen we are not top 4 that’s guaranteed.
3. Whoever’s decision to sack JAC and play Blake Wilson in front of Jeral Skelton has blood on his hands.
To be fair.skelton was the one who cost us the last try manly scored.hes got the turning ability of a B double.

I love max king as a person but I don’t think he starts for any other first grade team.
Max is a starter in most NRL teams. Huge workrate in defence and attack and can play long periods with minimal mistakes. That's worth gold.

We need a fb desperately connor isnt the answer and cant catch go for poinga surely hes sick of losing

I remember a few years ago we smashed Penrith in a trial panthers looked in 1st gear ,i wonder if cam did the same thing play in first gear no injuries low intensity just get game minutes into the legs and props spread across the grades im hoping this is the plan and fire up from rnd 1 although connor t and sexpo worry me bigtime

Aside from the play from the scrum, which was a cracker, I didn't see anyone run any plays. From the kick off it was the KISS principle, don't show anything that we have rehearsed, just ruck it up and kick on the 5th. With Sexton taking most of the kicks, 11 compared Burton's 5 plus Mahoney and Tracey 1 each (O'Neil had 3 kicks in his minutes).

A very simple game plan designed to get the rust out, have some contact, test the game fitness and give the maybe's a chance to show their skills.

Just what trials are for.

Guaranteed they signed him knowing Kiraz was fucked though
Decision kinda looks worse now that back up to back up Enari? is unavailable also.

Incredible that it seems that its always our vulnerable positions seem to be affected with multiple injuries ...we often can't rely on next best man up (its gotta be 4th/5th best and we constantly cant take a trick.

100% that was the game plan. The over reaction to this trial is absolutely wild lol

It was so obvious that the game plan was to just kick the ball through Sexton and not put any sort of plays on ahead of round 1.

I think Burton missing that tackle was one of only a few points that would of concerned CC but the rest of it they were in first gear in attack, didn't shift the ball once. Which is how we beat Brisbane last year so convincingly.

What kind of coach would tell their team to go hell for leather with all the defensive and attacking shape that they will use in two weeks? Common lads.

I still have a problem with Xerri not passing the ball. He seems to think he can just barge over. To see a fast man, outside him,
unmarked in a lot of cases causes a lot of problems.

Exactly.
How come our best player is a 34 year old or whatever he is 'journeyman' lock forward?
The Ciraldo obsession with complex defensive patterns look great when opposition sides are being contained on their own lines.
But top 4 sides also score points.
Is it time to sack Ciraldo?
(just kidding)
Ciro probably felt when he took on this challenge that the roster was so average (compared to the top 8) that they could only handle one aspect of the game, so concentrated on his forte of defence. He has coached a miracle into these guys and he and Gus have totally churned the roster to near on the best available (under the cap at the time)...debatable to some but nevertheless the signings recruited have been commendable and we missed a few and rejected a few.

They are now proficient in that side of the game.

Now he has to drag up the attacking skills of most of the players without a very effective halves pairing. That will be a big job and a big test for his development as a top flight coach. Question marks and pressure also will be placed around the attacking coach Jason Taylor.

I think it's clear he favours those he thinks can implement his current defensive, yet conservative game plan. Can't blame him for that.

However this season may be his biggest test as most NRL pundits, and our fans, are expecting the team to evolve and improve.

Ciro will have to pick the best bench and upskill our spine in particular to do that.

Maybe he should play wing now.
