OFFICIAL | POST-GAME Pre Season Challenge #2 Vs Brisbane

Had to laugh though when I realised about 5 minutes into the game I had been kidding myself Montoya was going to be a much improved player.
Good on him for coming back, he's a really nice guy, and I assume on a minimum contract, but the reality is he is only there so we don't have to put a young player in NRL before they're ready.
It will only be the fans who suffer the psychological trauma of watching Montoya play if the first two wing choices who are injured.
Not a 19 year old Fijian promoted before he is ready.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but for anyone else just waking up with a hangover and not wanting to go through 100 pages of thread, was Crichton injured?

Broncos have some big bodies in their team, watched them last week with the younger plays against Titans, they will go well this year.
Will be harder this year for us, every team gunning for us.
All gonna be relentlessly going thru the middle now after it worked end of last year.

We are blessed to have so many kennellers who are professional nrl coaches with their fingers ,who also know the game better than me.
Blind Freddy can tell you there was no effort in attack intensity to ask questions of Brisbane yesterday.
Did anyone notice how many broncos copped injuries?
When the race for the NRL starts March 8 don’t worry our team will be ready.
No need to death ride any players after a trail game.

Wing, halfback and goal kicking are our biggest concerns this year, you must come to grips that we are not top 4 material. Wake up and smell the roses.
1. You must go up in 6’s not 4’s.
2. Sexton may get us to scrape into the top 8, from what I’ve seen we are not top 4 that’s guaranteed.
3. Whoever’s decision to sack JAC and play Blake Wilson in front of Jeral Skelton has blood on his hands.

Not going to say much other than I hope people seeing Montoya yesterday are now reminded (again) of why we got rid of him in the first place. Either short memories or maybe weren't around during those years to see him. Offers zero. That Wilson try, no way HMAS Montoya scores that!

It just looks like 2026 will be a repeat of last year to me.
Defend brilliantly against sides with bigger packs until round 24 when fatigue sets in and Mann cracks under the pressure of holding the team together for 23 rounds.
Round 24 when we play Roosters, followed by Storm, Panthers and Sharks.
We will drop from 5th or 6th on the table to 9th or 10th.
Burton and Kikau already look worn out from too much training.

Yes I understand it's a trial but when your team spends several months purposely training to IMPROVE it's also natural for us fans to be very disappointed when you watch your team fail to come up with ANY better 5th tackle options than a 40/60 kick, Tracey unable to catch a bomb FFS and the Broncos trample us coming out of their own end, etc. I say 40/60 because even the kicks weren't well placed. Makes you wonder if they spend their time correctly at training. Sexton looks like he's learnt absolutely nothing in the off season. If we're happy with a half that often doesn't get a try assist in a whole game then we haven't really improved since the days of Lewis, Wakeham, BBO etc. O'Neill is looking a better option every game. Why doesn't Mahoney ever run the ball any more to put defending markers in 2 minds ?

Montoya offers absolutely nothing also. We virtually replace a fast rep star winger with someone who'se f..king average at best. Everytime he plays he's gonna cost us tries that JAC would have scored. If we need someone just to make tough carried we might as well put Hayes on the wing. We desperately need some more mongrel / line benders in the forwards. DSF should start with Todd off the bench in my opion. Yes I know I'm not a coach though

It all came flooding back. He's gonna be targetted for sure.
Hoping there'll be some improvement.
