The interesting part is that oil went up to nearly US$130 per barrel but has steadily declined over the last week and is now below US$100 per barrel. So the price of petrol should be dropping.
Sorta. Don’t forget contracts are done in ‘futures’ which means that if the price of crude drops this week (as it has) - any flow through to the price at the pump takes up to two weeks to see, it’s not instant.

How does it work though, so you download the app, lock in the price then fill up. How do you verify the price you locked in though when you go to pay? Just trying to find out how the bowser is linked with your 7/11 app account.

The app has a barcode that they scan when you go to pay. I locked in at $1.85 last week filled up yesterday where price down in Wollongong was $2.20 for 95 so I ended up saving just under $20

There’s an app called ‘Petty’ also which works for fuel prices in NSW, QLD and TAS:

You can search for nearby petrol stations and compare prices. If you sling them a couple of bucks you get it ad-free and more functionality too. The good thing is it covers all brands so you don’t need multiple apps to compare pricing and can likely save some bucks.

Is The app easy to use? How do you find the cheapest price and how do you lock it in
7.11 app is easy to use. Just need to have location enabled and it will check around the stations.

The other part i've linked/referenced is very technical

I watched a video today from a guy that captains the world's largest container ship.

They pay $5m for 8m litres.

This is what I always thought and I'll try to explain it the best I can...

They skyrocket the price so when they drop it a bit, it looks like it's good value.

IE when it was $1.80, they will jump it now to $2.30-$2.40, then drop it to $2.00 to make it look like we are getting it cheap but in reality we are paying 20-30c more and nobody will whinge because they fell for it.
