Honest question. Can someone please explain to me why now is the best time to change the board? And why we shouldn't wait for a year?

Sell it to me as all I've seen is hot air without any real substance.

We have a new coach with a pathetic head coaching record who just happens to have a personal relationship with our new major sponsor...lol.

What I think or think other people think doesn't matter anyway, i can't vote so it's not worth investing the energy in this.
Thank God you're not going to invest energy into this debate. We've seen the carnage that follows when you come across a topic you're happy to invest energy into. Torn body pieces absolutely everywhere!

Dunn is speaking in tones of a defeated man. He has already been defeated based on that transcript alone.

If the board had a few more signings for 21 I’d say there’d be much less talk. A big deal was made about next year and money available and if we go in with just Thomson and Cotric it won’t look good. Granted things may happen after the grand final.

Combine that with some of the signings we have made like DWZ and Napa and some people have lost confidence.

If the wrong players are signed in 22 on long contracts then we’re in for yet another rebuild by another board.

Add in stupid in fighting between various parties and some fairly amateurish decisions and you can see why there’s been all this talk.

I can vote and have had calls but I won’t sign any documents. I will however attend a meeting if one is held and hear what everyone has to say and try to make the best decision I can in the interests of the club.

Yeah all the 2021 talk about a full salary cap and only 2 signings is what is probably pissing everyone off... rightly so

Under-fire Canterbury director Paul Dunn says he will accept the members' decision if he is a casualty in a battle for control of the Bulldogs, but is adamant he will leave the club in a better state than he found it.

The "family club" is on the brink of civil war after a letter demanding an extraordinary general meeting to oust Dunn, chair Lynne Anderson and deputy chair John Ballesty was tabled to chief executive Andrew Hill on Tuesday.

The trio are considering their next course of action ahead of a meeting of the football club board on Thursday. If they opt to dig in, they face the prospect of being voted out of office at the EGM.

After months of speculation, the 116 signatures are a clear sign that a significant section of the membership has lost faith in Canterbury's leadership.

The Bulldogs narrowly avoided the wooden spoon in a tumultuous season that included the Port Macquarie scandal and the departure of coach Dean Pay before his contract expired.

Dunn, a Clive Churcill medallist during his playing days for the club, said the club is in a much better position than when he rejoined it as a director.

"The only things I've ever done is for the benefit of the club," Dunn said. "If the people want to get me off there, so be it, I will get on with my life.

"If they do vote me off, I'll have left the club in a much better position than what I found it in.

"I use the iceberg analogy all the time, most people only see the first-grade results in looking at how the club is going.

"There are so many other things [that have improved] – junior league, salary cap, roster, coaching staff, the sponsorship situation.

"I'm very fortunate that I've got a lot out of rugby league over the years and I see my involvement as a way to give back.

"If people don't want me there I'll leave. I'll be very disappointed because I reckon next year is so exciting, it's not funny.

"I would like to be involved in that, but if not, then so be it.

"The club is in a much better position now than it was three years ago."

Dunn was part of a Reform ticket that swept to power in 2018, ousting the regime previously chaired by Ray Dib.

The 'Reformists' have claimed that the salary cap issues they inherited would take several years to rectify and that 2021 represented the first year that their changes would begin to bear fruit.

However, that narrative hasn't placated a powerful bloc of disgruntled members who believe the club has gone backwards since their arrival.

Incoming coach Trent Barrett could be officially starting work at the club just as members head to the ballot box to overthrow three of the seven directors on the board.
Dunn said the club was in the process of again becoming a development club, a process that takes several years to pay dividends.

"There is still work to be done, but you will start to see progress in the next couple of years, definitely," Dunn said.

"If someone would have the courtesy to tell me why they want me off, I'm happy to have a discussion with them."
Here we go again. Another administrator who has zero administrative experience or qualifications comes in and wonders why members don’t like him? The board is a joke and their total irreverence to this mess we are in is the reason the club can not and will not move forward.

Board is not changing.
The vote is to remove those three directors. The remaining 4 director would then have to appoint 3 new directors and new chairman of the football and leagues club. If they do get voted out.

The club must have a good chunk of money up their sleeve for next season.
Fingers cross they can get some quality players to the club.

Then why change only 3 directors? It doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

‘If someone would have the courtesy to tell me why they want me off, I'm happy to have a discussion with them’.

Typical. Won’t put names forward nor reasons why. Hope the whole thing falls flat on its arse because the majority of members see it for what it is.
He also said the roster has improved since he's been on the Board.......yeah right.

That's a fair stance.

But if our confidence in the board / these directors really hinges on a few more signings then surely too many people are being short-sighted?

Personally, I'd rather the club do their fucking homework for once and get the right players even if that means waiting for '22. In saying that, I do expect us to make some signings as teams drop out of the finals.
