You know one thing that surprises me.. Payne Haas was never given a short ball one off the ruck near the try line.. He was making that many post contact meters he would have scattered the defence like tenpins..

Why was it that there were no "six agains" in that game. Or did I miss them?

Because Gee set the standard early with how he was going to ref the ruck and he stuck solid to that. Usually what happens with most refs is they’ll start the game reffing it a certain way then they’ll change based on a teams momentum.
Excellent game reff’d by Gee. He let the players decide the result. Didn’t fall for the numerous attempts of milking by broncos, including Reynolds trying to play for that hip drop when he acted like his groin tore from his bone lol

So true. At first you think maybe bc of the quality of the 2 teams it worked and with regular teams it wouldnt be as successful.

Maybe so but then again maybe the lesser teams would thrive as they can gain some momentum instead of the stop start penalties, the mostly unfair random momentum advantage gained by 6 agains and contentious rulings that seem to favour the team on top.

The game was reffed in the best spirit of what rugby league offers.

Sincerely hope Vlad, Abdo, refs boss really thoroughly assess why this GF was a success as a game and contest between 2 highly skilled teams and a showcase of the best of what the game is all about.

And where it is different to all it's competitors for the sporting audience (and dollar).

We saw in last nights game there were numerous indiscretions, accidental high tackles, off sides, "impossible" line speed etc. Both teams made either indiscretions or mistakes but it all seemed to work beautifully by the ref controlling and allowing the open play and Bunker keeping out of it.

Note to NRL: Keep the nit picking refs out of proceedings, have some common sense by refs and don't let players suck you in (if they try) and let the player/athletes entertain and fairly compete for the right result determined by them alone.

Always backed him, stoked to see the kid get rewarded for his efforts. He 100% earned that ring. Serious hip injury as a young fella at Newcastle, Bulldogs and Pay fucking him over for Lachlan fucking Lewis... Huddersfield the silly fucks playing Tui Lolahea over him in the halves.
