Kid needs to stay, get as much positivity in his soul now before coming here, god knows we’re gonna eat him alive if he doesn’t deliver during the trail game.

We can bicker and complain as much as we like but Penrith would be mad to swap out Burton now.

Their in premiership contention and having a player like Burton as back up is vital to success.

"At the start of the year, the Bulldogs offered Napa in a swap deal for Burton, with Penrith officials agreeing to consider the option at the club’s next recruitment and retention committee meeting. However it didn’t get that far, with Canterbury removing the offer before the Panthers had made a decision."

Dogs: "How about a trade"

Panthers: "We'll put it to the committee in the next meeting"

Dogs: "We changed our mind"

Dogs after 3 losses and Napa being a total liability: "We changed our mind again"

-

They had SOME leverage with Napa being able to sell him as a rep prop which we could've used but they tried to play hard ball and waited until he showed on the field he was no good to anyone. they should've let us consider the deal and there's a reasonable chance you'd have him this year with us gambling with weakening depth in one spot to strengthen another but Napa has ruined that with his form.
LOL ... yeah we should all accept what the media tell us as gospel truth ... too may conflicting stories surrounding his release, I don't care anymore.

Just one article from 9 February 2021 Zero Tackle
Penrith reportedly requested former Maroons prop Dylan Napa in exchange for an early release for Burton, with the Bulldogs rejecting the deal post haste.

One without all of the dead wood we currently have and who are hopefully replaced by actual NRL calibre forwards.
Hmm ok you must know something we don’t. Any clues as to which forwards we have signed or are signing ?

Tbh as of now, Burton would be better gaining FG experience playing for a potential Premiership winning side than joining the rabble that is currently us at the moment. It would destroy his confidence completely constantly playing behind a dominated forward pack
Exactly. As long as he gets to run out with the first grade squad on a consistent basis it will do him the world of good (better then getting flogged every week behind a pack that couldn’t take the skin off a rice pudding).

Even if he was a bench player coming on for 15 mins a game that would help him. Training full time with the nrl squad and winning games. It will bring a professionalism to his game and his preparation. While on the other hand Flanagan is called shit every week on the kennel :p

The Cleary injury could have been the best thing for the kid, now he almost demands the 14 jersey.

One of the things we won't have next season is 15 guys trying to get a new contract. This of itself means that 2022 is going to be different.
The problem is we need to start winning or at least be competitive so we can sign high caliber players for next year.
Otherwise we will only be able to sign players on the scap heap.

" It comes just a couple of months after Canterbury refused to give up Napa in exchange for Burton's services, a decision they are now ruing as they look for answers to overcome the club's winless start to the season."

How dumb can Bulldogs management get... rejecting the deal to begin with and then going back and saying they want that deal a few months later. Ffs, we deserve to be in the shit with the kind of stupid management. Even a 10 year old would have done the Napa deal when it was on offer. Something is rotten in Bulldogs administration. Bunch of imbeciles.

Can't the dogs swap him for that prop who plays for. St Helens? That would be an upgrade to what we have.

It's a vicious cycle. Probably one of the best things that could happen this season is a notable improvement among the current players. This is more likely to happen later in the season.

What's your point? Would you rather bring Burton over now and throw him to the slaughter behind a horrible team? He's not coming anyway as Penrith won't let him go now so it's a moot point. You're arguing for the sake of it.

let Burton play out 2021 at the Panthers and have a fresh start with us from 2022... at the moment, I would be worried that the earlier we bring Burton over, the earlier he would be off contract and wanting to leave considering how poor we are

still... now and always, f*+# the Panthers

No I’m not arguing for the sake of it. My point was, in response to you saying it’s better he didn’t come now to play behind this shitty pack. Whether he came now or next year would be no different. I don’t see the pack being much different next season

Before Gus went there Penrith was so in debt, they couldn’t pay their bills, they were a total screw up...Gus saved the joint now the arrogance coming from them and that flog Brandy is laughable.

I’m over the whole Burton thing..in saying that fans should get to the see the guy play 1st grade week in week out, unfortunately Penrith are going to make sure that doesn’t happen and also I think they would like Barrett’s career to tank...which by the end of this year could happen before it even gets going.

Fukn Burton... Teach these wankers how to run lines before worrying about a player who has nobody to pass too!

And who has offered up the info that Laundy rang up Penrith and apologised?
