Like I said Broseph… influx of people moving over from the east coast (rugby league territory) and NZ (hate AFL), the population has almost doubled since last time, it has a ready made stadium. NRL games played in Perth get big crowds, Origin was sold out within hours the other year. Blokes I work with are born and bred in WA and are mad AFL supporters are enjoying league now as well since channel 9 started with two live games a weekend.
There is a HUGE difference between enjoying a game and attending one. Far from convinced this isn’t a sugar rush expansion and then the NRL have yet another team that isn’t feasible long term. As it is we already have gone to Gold Coast when we shouldn’t have. NRL games in Perth attendances have drastically decreased too. You are putting all this on some maybe influx of Eastern States that’s a huge gamble.

If we went to the Pacific we don’t have to worry about support at all. League mad in that area

The best time to strike was when the force died, before they were risen again.

Fact: Perth was a reasonable success when starting. They had higher crowds than the doggs for example. They were crushed by being forced to pay all airfares for all teams and officials visiting, at a time the nrl wasnt on good ground.

Fact: East Coast homies have migrated since

Fact: For what its worth, one off crowds is good there.

Fact: It is a big city/area.

Perth is a much better option, look how popular the Storm have become in AFL mad Victoria, 40’000 members last year… pretty feasible if you ask me cobba.

40,000 members and how many turn up 10k or so. There’s no money to be made in Perth, everything tells me it’s going to be a loss, like the Gold Coast is. Let’s see how many members the Storm get in a poor year too. They are lucky they are contending every year

You’re wrong, Melbourne are 2nd to Brisbane for home game attendance and there’s more money to be made here in WA than a 3rd world country where they’d have to build them a stadium and continue to fund their team forever. WA teams will be backed by one of the mining giants.

For all the emotional support for a team in Perth it's just a ridiculous concept once you consider practical realities.

1. There is a simple reality that the new franchise has to expand the number of first grade players in the NRL by another 30, and for all the issues expereinced by the Dolphins they at the very least had a QRL team and nursury to draw in a set of development players. Perth has no chance of this.

2. Geographic location and timezone isues for broadcasts are beyond challenging. Have you even thought about the flight logistics for Perth to play the Warriors...or vice versa? Let alone the cost imposition for away supporters to travel to Perth for a game.

3. Just how difficult will it be to seduce existing players to move to Perth, especially the now 48% of players in the NRL who are either Islander or Kiwi.

Just on pure business case assessment, there are only two places which make any sense to locate the 18th franchise. Queensland....or NZ. They both have League infrastructure, location, fans and participation around them. Besides, the ability to have a home game in NZ every weekend wuld be a massive step forward for the NRL and would finally signal them taking NZ seriously. Not to mention that Pacifica players would likely be lured to a NZ team simply due to proximity to home.

If you haven't familiarised yourself with "The Barassi Line"...I encourage you to research it.

What dribble. No to another NZ team. And NSW has enough juniors to feed another team. So does Qld.
For Perth team for example Bears would be there feeder from Harold Matthews to Reserve grade, they would be based hear in NSW. Papau new Guinea is to dangerous to have nrl, it won't happen, players would get Macheted to death.

18 teams and fuck those byes off.

Would anyone consider another Pacfic Natiom team like PNG ? They are league mad.
We barely have enough quality players for 17 teams. You need only look at the players off contract for 2024 to see that there isn't enough talent.
