If it were us in their position I wouldn't want to release a good option to benefit another team. I was annoyed that we let Reimis go for nothing in return when we aren't stacked with quality backs. I wouldn't even say it's sour grapes from Cleary. There's a chance that come origin time they'll need Burton even If injuries to their halves doesn't push him into the side sooner. Both their halves have been pushing for rep selection, so it's not beyond possible that they'll both get called up this year. It's like expecting someone to give you their spare tyre because you didn't get your flat tyre fixed. You may not need that spare tyre, but maybe you will. Could be the difference between pushing for the top four for them this year.

He absolutely would get smashed because he wouldn't have been playing in a red hot Panthers side behind one of the best packs and would've been exposed. He's an inexperienced young half and is going to make mistakes and our fans have shown they are not very patient with this type of thing.

I used to think Cleary was ok but it’s clear he’s just a salty bastard. But he’s not the only one to blame the CEO and others in the club are the same.

Burtons development will be stifled by staying at Penrith and being played out of positions, the Panthers have plenty of back ups in most positions.
