DOG GET ONE DONE, ONTO THE NEXT ONE
Chase Stanley has re-signed with Canterbury for a further two seasons.
The 26-year-old joined the club last year following stints with the Dragons and Storm.
Stanley made six appearances for the club this year, scoring two tries.
The Bulldogs are expected to announce Stanley’s signing in the coming week and have now turned their attention to hooker Damien Cook.
While Cook has caught the eyes of a number of clubs, his manager Mario Tartak was quick to dismiss reports that the Wests Tigers were one of the clubs vying for Cook’s signature.
Tartak told Market Watch the 24-year-old is keen to repay the faith and stay at Belmore.
“We’re in negotiations with a few clubs but Damien’s preference is to stay with the Bulldogs,” Tartak said.
While the Bulldogs are yet to agree on the length of the new deal, it’s understood Cook is looking for at least two years.
Meanwhile Bulldogs boss Raelene Castle is eager to extend the contract of coach Des Hasler.
Hasler is under contract until the end of 2017 but Castle is hopeful of extending his term as part of the plans to ensure the club’s long-term success.
“We would certainly like to see that Des stays here,” Castle said.
“We will be having those conversations with him when the season finishes.
“He’s a proven coach that has an extraordinary track record.”
Hasler joined the Bulldogs in 2012 after eight seasons in control of Manly.
