Karl Oloapu

Gus paid $1.5mil for a player without performing a medical...anywhere else in the world he'd be sacked....division 7 football clubs in third world countries perform medicals for $5....easy when its not your money!!

You do know, all players do a medical.

Karl's problem couldn't be picked up with medicals etc. Unless it was intensive medicals.

Broncos supplied their medical of him & the Dogs would have done their own.

Unless the standard medical involves a CT scan of the neck then the hereditary condition which KO was born with wouldn't have been picked up by any club.

What’s so insightful about performing a medical? In the world of professional sports, it’s not just an expectation—it’s a fundamental requirement. Gus failed Karl, not the other way around. Attempting to force the player into medical retirement because of his own oversight is nothing short of unscrupulous, if not downright unethical.

Aren’t you a dragons fan Tony?

Crazy that all we’ve read about over the last few seasons is players failing medicals with us and not being signed..

But they forgot to do one on Oloapu.

Craaaazy..

I work out at Gregory Hills, the Dogs players were training today at Rob Whittakers UFC gym.
Jacob Preston had his shoulder strapped, not sure if he has a niggle of some sort or just precaution.
Anyways… got talking to this big lump of a lad I’ve never seen before & he introduced himself Larry Mautaitia (something like that) he played in the Flegg GF, he came across from Parramatta he said.
Lovely bloke, said fitness is thru the roof, boys all on song, I asked him about Karl Oluapu…. He said HE’S GONE! He’s at the Dolphins.
Whom ever said it earlier in these posts was 100% correct.
Oluapu wants to play in the halves… he won’t be able to do that at Belmore. No issues or domestics with the club at all.
I then asked him who’s killing it… he said Jack Underhill, well more than likely see this kid debut sooner rather than later.
I asked him about the Seve brothers… he told me they are his cousins… the younger one signed up at the Roosters & because they are super close, they wanted to stay together…. That’s what he said. Again no issues at the club with allowing F Seve to leave.

Just thought I share the info, this kid Larry is built like f’ling granite, he said hell be playing Cup this year.

And young Sua the winger whom got knocked out in the Flegg GF, ended up having a broken Jaw from that incident…

From memory this kid played for NSW in under 19s. Shame about Oloapu if true. He did have a shot at playing in the halves at the Dogs. That's what we bought him as. Was hoping he might take Sexton's spot actually

Well that sounds pretty genuine to me. Most surprised that the Dolphins are prepared to take him on + the risk of an untested injury that comes with him. Suggest Karl is unlikely to get much of a go in the halves at the Dogs any time soon, with current incumbents in place + with O’Neill & Woods waiting in the wings. That must have swung the decision to leave I guess. Good luck to him at the Fins.

Oh well. Nothing ventured nothing gained.. It wouldn't surprise me if he asks to leave the Dolphins in a year or two as that appears to be his M.O. Good luck to him but we have plenty of other gun youngsters coming through at all positions and we only want people who want to be here.

Seems like the best quality oil so far regarding Karl, time will tell.

Suggesting to someone with genetic problems in their neck, that they should retire from rugby league, isn't unscrupulous or unethical . . . It's the exact opposite dumb dumb. I'd call it common sense

If I recall correctly, Oloapu has a rare genetic issue that caused some thinning of the bones in his back. If clubs failing to screen players for rare generic issues is a failure, then I'm sure that nearly every club has failed on this front. The issue came to light because he eventually felt pain due to a bulging disc. The club did their due diligence and detected the issue and rehabilitated him.

Is there a particular reason that you feel the need to badmouth the club at every turn? It's getting a bit monotonous. I think I'm going to start referring to you a MonoTone from now on.

Good info thanks, i really rate big Larry Mautaitia light on his feet for a big guy and has some ball skills.
I was hoping that he'd stay with us after we had delisted his brother.
