Tries his best lol

there it is again

fuck me dead
Go back to improves.. better every year and would be on cheap coin. We can’t afford not to sign a back up hooker so it makes sense. Get on your bike and go sign Brandon smith please morphius..

I don't mind this signing. He's the best current option and will be good for depth once we get some quality in the 9 moving forward.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have continued their re-build for next year with talented 25 year-old hooker Jeremy Marshall-King committing to the club for the next two seasons.

An excellent ball-runner from dummy half who is in his fourth season at Belmore, Marshall-King has shown that he is a player for the future with a combination of excellent service from dummy half, alongside a great work-rate in defence.

He has also caught the interest of the New Zealand selectors, representing his country in last season’s World Cup Nines.

Bulldogs Chief Executive Aaron Warburton was delighted at being able to keep Marshall-King at Belmore.

”We remain focused on creating the squad that we believe will take us forward next year and beyond, and Jeremy will be an important member of that group of players.

He has shown that he is a hard worker who doesn’t take short cuts and displays a number of leadership qualities which continue to develop over time.
With that work ethic and his desire to continually improve, he is exactly the sort of player we need in our squad going forward.

Depth in all positions is a big part of what we are looking to achieve and Jeremy’s re-signing is a major boost for our forward pack."

Yep 100% especially with no hookers officially on the market for next year. If we didnt re-sign him and then couldnt get anyone for next year we would be farked.

A few people have said Topine at hooker but there is no way he is a better option than JMK.

He had a decent game against the Dragons. If he can string games like that. He would be a decent re-signing like you said he is probably the best option in our current team.

I'd rather Deitz any day of the week, not just for his running game but also for his passing game. Deitz has been unlucky getting injured when he got his chances. Just needs to improve his defence a bit but so does every c..t in our team.
Even when he's been on the field, what's he done to make you think he's the answer? He's just more of the same and at this point JMK at least has more first grade experience than Deitz. Every game i've seen Deitz play he's finished up injured. Not to mention he's 26 years old and never broken into first grade until the limited minutes he's played with us, there'd be a reason for that

I think that performance had more to do with how bad Saints were than JMK's ability. Everyone played well that game as Saints didn't turn up to play. He's played horribly every game since then and that's always been his biggest problem.

Anyone doubting it only has the read the articles above. "We need depth in all positions".

No one from the club is saying "We see JMK as the next Cam Smith and are therefore scrapping any plans to sign another hooker until 2035". I have no inside info but am assuming we will wait and see what happens in the off season with B. Smith or another hooker under contract. It may be JMK as starting hooker next year and then a top line hooker the next year.

The re-signing has the hallmarks of showing some stability and rewarding effort which hopefully will lead to re-estaablishing a culture of loyalty and pride in the club. JMK is making a reasonable fist of the job which no longer requires scrummaging skills. With respect to props Thompson is good. They should get Cement to teach Hetherington how to tackle properly and the pair would be a formidable pair. Jackson always plays his heart out and is a class above the pack. With recruits coming next year and hopefully Okunboor regaining his powerful running in the backs, the squad having rid itself of the unwanted baggage and cost of mistaken retention and recruitment decisions over the past 4 years, and the squad should be competitive and sustainable. The big issue is whether the coaching will be up to the task.

He is not the worst player we have, but he needs to have better consistency.

13 wins in a row now with Cheese playing in all of them at hooker, 10 of 16 games scoring over 40 points (the last 3 in a row) and he's scored a try the last 5 weeks in a row. I'd say hes a pretty capable hooker and they're not missing Grant too much
Melbourne could have Lichaa at 9 and still win they are that good. Smith plays like a backrowere and a damn good one. Passing game is not great and that is critical as a 9. When Grant comes back he'll be at 9.
