We have no backline spot for him to play in 2024, no way he is playing on the wing, we have centres covered with Alamoti, Averillo and Xerri, we have fullback covered with Crichton and 5/8 covered with Burton. IF (that's a big if) CC & Gould did actually speak to him then I think lock would be the only position that we could use him in. Which is possibly what they pitched to him to judge his response. These days lock is really a spine position and justifies a decent contracts as such.

Personally I think Wighton would make a killer ball playing and running lock, certainly an important piece that we are currently missing.

Always a Bulldog
I can confirm that they DID meet.

I agree with your thoughts on Jack suiting the Ball Playing Lock Roll 100%.

But I hope Souths haven't sold him a big Dummy by telling him he is guaranteed to play in his favoured left center position & then get him to fill their biggest weakness instead.

I can honestly see Souths having a crack at playing Jack at "Left Edge Back Row", which IMO is their missing piece.

Not a signing I would
Make personally for
The Bulldogs. Don't get me
Wrong he is a rep quality player . I just don't think he fixes any of our problem areas. He isn't a play maker, he isn't a front rower. His asset as a half is his running game and we already have a half in Burton who does that just as well as Wighton and the bonus is that Burton has superior kicking game .
